I have been watching many retro video game shows on youtube lately and I've noticed that a lot of gamers are into collecting all the old video game consoles they are now considered retro. Even I am wanting to get into this and start getting the various consoles that I never had when young.
However, I don't know if its just me or not, but it seems as if there is a greater desire to collect for console systems rather than PC's. To be honest though some of these old consoles were basically PC's. But it just seems that people have a greater desire to collect say a Jaguar or 3DO or PS1 rather than an old desktop pentium 2 computer.
I myself have mostly been a console video game player, although I have owned and played many PC games. But for some reason if I had to choose a platform to design games on I would most likely choose a console rather than a PC and I've always wondered why.
Is it because PC's aren't totally dedicated to playing video games because they can do much more than that? Is it because different PC's have different specs where as consoles usually don't?
What are your thoughts and opinions? Would you rather play on a console or PC? If you had to choose between developing for a console or PC, which would you choose? If you indeed collect old retro video game systems do you also collect old PC's too?
