I can simulate 8-bit music using the following tricks:
- Square wave with 50% duty cycle is done using patch #80 and bank #1 which is "Square Wave 2", i.e. a square wave without the annoying chorous effect there is on the normal patch #80
- Triangle wave is simulated using patch #79 "Ocarina".
- Square wave with 25% duty cycle is done by superposing two square waves at one octave of difference, the wave at the higher octave being 70% of the volume of the the square wave at the lower octave
I cannot find any way to simulate square wave with 12.5% duty cycle. Has anyone any idea how to get something that sounds as close as possible, possibly with GS or XG extensions if required ?
