They should just have to choose one for this word and then use that, then. Since it says アインハンダー then they should use that, I suppose. Other possibility is to look at existing German loanwords in Japanese; however, even for other language the way is not always consistent (when a word is loaned then it becomes that, I suppose), and abbreviations are also common. I don't actually know how it is done in Japanese normally or properly, but I would think that it would become a word? (In some cases there seem to even be multiple forms, though.) (Also, I don't know German pronouncing, but I do understand Japanese pronouncing.)
A lot of different kind of 2D games can be made up though. Yes in a platformer game there can be more than player, enemies, background layer; there can be many other kind of objects, as well as extra rules such as possibly, different gravity for different objects and so on. But, the 2D game is not only platform game you can have grid, too. Many kind of game can be with grid, and some game can be make even with abnormal grid (although abnormal grid is more difficult to program on Famicom). And, many game is using 3D graphics even though it is not needed because it is 2D game, so you should just make the 2D graphics.
