Hey, folks. JLukas discovered on The Cutting Room Floor ( https://tcrf.net/HyperZone ) that this game had a hidden 3-D mode that alternated Left and Right eye views, but today I guessed that this game wouldn't just implement such a thing and leave the shutter signals inside the SFC. So I probed the joystick ports and found the 3-D glasses shutter signal!
You could also leave a Famicom 3-D game running and connect the FC 3D glasses to it while playing on the SNES; however, Hyper Zone does have some slowdown when multiple sprites appear on screen along with their shots, causing the game to slow down, and L/R alternating to skip. This will invert the 3D effect each time this happens. So, wiring up the FC 3D system to the SNES/SFC as shown above will give a rock-solid 3-D effect. It is pretty cool to see SNES mode 7 in 3D.
