You know, we make so many posts and help each other out all of the time, but we know so little about each other. I am interested in knowing the following things.
[Identity Theft]
1. Who are you?
2. Where are you from/Where do you live?
3. Why are you into NES emulation?
4. What do you do in your spare time?
5. Age. Pets. Marital Status. Children?
6. Any funny stories? (hopefully NES related)
7. Do you have a job/Are you a student? If so what?
8. What does the future hold for you?
[/Identity Theft]
I don't know, most people do not feel like sharing this kind of information on the WEB... Even you didn't! =) I mean, if you want to encourage people to share, you should be the first one, no?
Yeah, I think many people get into hobbies as a diversion from normal life, a place to get away from being a particular person with well-worn superficial features, to simply someone with abilities in said hobby, and judged only on those.
I thought it was just because most of people dont want crazy people tracking are ass down or attempting to identity theft them.
1.Peppers
2. That place some people know about/ My home
3. My preference is actual hardware
4. I like video games, chillin and I have recentley been trying to get into MCU programming although my learning is going slow

7. maybe/I am a student of human nature and what it not known about the world
8. winning lotto numbers
Although I can understand what blargg said, personally, yeah, I'd be more worried about what peppers said. I wouldn't mind the NESDEV people knowing more about me, but this is the fucking WEB, where not everyone is nice, and might end up using what you write against you.
I really enjoy that the internet makes it possible for us to find people with the same interests. There's no way I'd be into NESDEV at all if it wasn't for this place, and emulation in general, simply because no one I meet in my everyday life would ever show the same interest, I'm pretty sure of that. So I'll give the internet that, but it is indeed a pretty nasty place to give out information about yourself.
Ha, fair enough. I'll trim down some of the questions and answer some myself.
1. James
2. London

Wow... you better move on to other consoles soon, because they're releasing new ones all the time, and it sems like you are still mostly stuck with the NES!

What the hell, this question again?
WedNESday wrote:

This is not really funny...!

Not really, we know your name from your web page... =)
OK then, I'll give this a shot:
1. Pretty broad question, but my name is Thiago (equivalent to "James" in english).
2. I was born and live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Just for the record, I hate soccer, carnaval and samba in general. I was born in the wrong country.
3. I got into gaming when the 16-bit consoles were "the shit". Only when emulation kicked in (1997~1998) I fell in love with the simplicity of the NES, and got very interested on how it worked.
4. NES programming, watch anime/read manga, draw (manga), ActionScript 3.0 programming... I'm sure I'm leaving lots of other things out.
5. 26, 3 cats, engaged, no kids.
6. None that I can remember...
7. Finishing Computer Science course at the university, working as WEB developer.
8. Will probably keep working with WEB development, although that brings me no joy.
Religious stance: Agnostic.
OTAKU!!! /me grabs torch & pitchfork, organizes mob
No I'm not. I dont't like to be labeled, I just happen to like (a lot of) japanese stuff. The word "otaku" is a pretty hardcore term that doesn't suit me.
aww...can it maybe perhaps suit me plz?

Thank you tokumaru for your serious post.

Well, I personally don't like giving out too much information. Usually when I type my name and stuff when signing up for accounts on web sites, I use Celius as my name, and I spell my last name incorrectly. But I'll put some out:
1. Celius is fine enough
2. Tofte, Minnesota/ Minneapolis, Minnesota
3. Well, I'm into NESDev because it's pretty simple compared to other systems...
4. Work on my cartoon, work on my book, work on my games, write music, sing (If no one's around), play games
5. 16. A cat. Not married (and probably never will be). No children.
6. I have stories that are really only funny to me.
7. I'm a student.
8. 10,000 years of life (My age goal =))

3. I've been a Nintendo fan for quite some time. Only recently did I begin I studying ASM and working on little NES demos and such. I've done some title screens, music, and moving sprites and the like, but nothing terribly impressive. I really enjoy pixels and the 8-bit aesthetic. I also like the challenge of creating art within constraints (like having to use a small NES color palette).
4. In my spare time, I play video games (of course), sew, knit, watch cartoons and infomercials, and hang out with friends (IRL, just to be clear).
5. Secret. Three. Secret. Secret.
6. Plenty of funny stories. Plenty.

1. My name is Derek, but I enjoy using the pseudonym Zom online
2. I'm from Central PA, and still live in Central PA
3. I realized recently that new games suck, and old games kick ass. My NES still works perfectly, so I started playing it again, and then felt an overwhelming urge to make a game for it.
4. I like to play the piano, read, play video games, and program.
5. 25, two cats, married to the love of my life who can consistently kick my ass at Dr. Mario, and no kids (yet)
6. How about gameboy related? One time I transcribed Music C from tetris to sheet music, then the next day I went to a library, got out a random book on music theory, flipped to a random page, and found Music C there. It is a menuet from the 3rd french suite in B minor, by bach.
7. I'm a software developer.
8. I have no idea what the future holds for me. Probably economic apocalypse and hunger. But supposing that doesn't happen, I sincerely hope to finish one, maybe three really good video games of my own within my lifetime.
1: Sometimes they call me Tom. You can call me Mr. Tom
2: deserts-ville , AZ
3: Why wouldn't I be into NES emulation!? I'm fitting the good fight.
4: Code. Coffee. Code. Coffee. Code. Wait... what?
5: 32. A wolf. Not anymore, thank god. yup.
6: I used to bite and twist my NES controllers in fits of rage. Not having any money for new controllers, I learned how to solder 'jumper' wires on the cracked boards. My soldering station was my the top of the washing machine to mother's dismay. I still remember the day when the soldering iron rolled off the washing machine and landed on top of my bare thigh (80's OP short shorts ftw!). There was a whole 5 seconds of shock watching my skin boil/bubble... then the pain kicked in and the screaming began. That's funny, right?
7: Currently in limbo
8: It doesn't. I hold the future for myself.
My net privacy was lost a while ago so eh:

3. I like playing games and learning how they work.
4. Right now I'm making a database app for a thrift store that will help cut their paper work and working towards a GBA platformer
5. 84, two wargs, multiple, lots of illegitimate children
6. My friend and I used to play Atari 7800 and whenever I left the room and came back he would make up some bull dooky about the game we were playing. Like in One-On-One he'd say the janitor would jump across the court. In Donkey Kong Mario could enter an invisible tunnel and his death noise would be really loud in there.
7. Some phone answering job.
8. Universal domination
1. Nicholas!
2. Born, raised, and currently reside in New Jersey
3. NES is fantastic. I am more into collecting than the hardware/development aspect however. I wrote a few very SIMPLE programs in assembly language and it's not really for me. I know how to program but assembly is a completely different beast. I wish I was determined enough to learn...
4. Hang out with family and friends. Party. Chill.
5. 21, no pets (RIP), single, no children
6. I once made a functional bootable Helloworld NES rom image!
7. No job currently. I'm a student studying computer science and business at a university called Rowan.
8. Great great things
1. Who are you?
There are some who call me............... John
2. Where are you from/Where do you live?
Born and raised in Memphis, TN. Lived in Birmingham, AL a couple of years. I ended up coming back to Memphis.
3. Why are you into NES emulation?
I also prefer real hardware. I like how easy it is to make really cool modifications to the NES hardware. Also the NES is a classic that will never die. Unfortunately I've never been great with Assembly. I was "taught" Motorola 6800 in college as I have an Associates degree in computer engineering, but it was never my strong language. I say "taught" because it was taught in a manner that assumed I already knew it, and I've never been able to learn that way. So, don't look forward to any games from me any time soon. I'm sure if I learn 6502 it will come to me slowly. I've always been much stronger in hardware. I'd love to find a connector that would fit the expansion slot!
I also love my supernes. If I could find a Powerpak like cart for it I'd love that too!
4. What do you do in your spare time?
This is my spare time. So I guess I sit and stare blankly at the computer screen, or play with my NES.
5. Age. Pets. Marital Status. Children?
30, 5 cats, a dog, and a Parakeet. I've been Married for 6 years, almost 7 and have no children yet.
6. Any funny stories? (hopefully NES related)
My 20 year old NES Max still works. I still use it. Not really funny just a story. I have 2 NES systems, The one I've had since 4th grade, and one I got in a garage sale. The only reason the one I've had since 4th grade has ever been opened was to install a new cartridge connector. The other one gets all the modifications. Extra audio mod, blue power LED, disabled lockout chip, hopefully eventually a copynes usb.
7. Do you have a job/Are you a student? If so what?
I do onsite service calls fixing computers.
8. What does the future hold for you?
My wife is in nursing school. She should graduate in October and hopefully then we can buy a house and start our family.
