Anyone tried Deoxit? My new 72 pin connector has begun failing already and so I'm investigating trying out either Deoxit or Stabilant 22 as I mentioned in a previous thread. Deoxit is way cheaper so I wondered if anyone has had success with it.
perhaps try bending the prongs on your connector with a tiny screw driver.. it helps make a better connection.. i'm using my original 72 pin connector with bent prongs and i've been able to play every cart i have
I've heard of the bending prong technique. My new 72 pin connector is still tight, that's the amusing part. It hasn't worn out yet. So you'd think bending the prongs in this case would be redundant. I've meticulously cleaned each game I own, too, including ones that have begun failing. Now by fail I don't mean "never works" I mean every so often I insert the game and I get the blinkies, or garbled nametables. Usually after the 2nd or 3rd insert I can get a game to work just fine. I'd rather it work *every* time though, that's why I'm intrigued by these contact enhancement products I've seen mentioned in various places.
yeah i still get blinking and sometimes have to reinsert/reset games once or twice... i guess if you want 100% reliability you gotta break out the big guns
You do realise NO connector wether toploading or not ect wil ever work "every time"?
By "every time", I'm sure they mean along the lines of the Gameboy/SNES/SMD connectors. True, these don't work -every time-, but you can be confident that you'll stick a game in, and it will work, as it works 99% of the time.
True. But sometimes these need inserting around 3 times. Sounds about the same kind of "fail" rate.
Now that you point it out, I do sometimes have to insert a game boy game or SNES game more than once to get it to work. I guess perhaps I'm being somewhat obsessive compulsive about the games "always working.."
Still it'd be fun to see how effective these products are...can't hurt right?
Definitly cool to see what it does ya. Just saying don't expect too much
