One word: crap.
I usually don't say my comment that hard and it may (?) offend a few people that already tried it but for now... It feels like the old Capcom way: just bring another bland game ASAP. Welcome back Capcom!.... The intro is a good example of recycling some of the idea of MM9.
By the way Capcom, we're waiting with anticipation for Super hyper Street figher 4 alpha in 6 months that is not complete and you need to buy all those extra DLC to make it the real game.. We know it's coming, isn't it..
- I didn't play the game yet, as for X360, its release date is March 31! Aw! It's a lot of time. For the time being, the wish to buy a Wii is increasing a lot, but I cannot. ^_^;;
- The only music I know of MM10 is that from the official trailer, but please, don't tell me where it plays.
MM10 is looking "exotic", can't wait to play it.
- Fact: the Wii version looks like a reused/edited MM9 according with some
h4ck3r5. There's a lot of stuff left.
I won't tell you any spoiler, I'm not sure if I will buy it yet. I just listened to the soundtrack of the bosses only, saw the intro and beginning of stages and for now it doesn't feel as great as MM9. I was expecting a lot about the music (like Willy stage 1 in MM9 and many others songs) and I felt let down completely. It came out in the US before Japan so it's not available yet on some platform.
As for buying a Wii, knowing how much they extort money in Brazil to buy the original one, unless you have many, many games you want to buy: don't get one. I bought one for my children but in general the games are, well, nothing special (my opinion, nobody has to agree with it).
The game just came out in Japan today. I'm downloading it even thought I don't like much the music now. I still support 8 bit style game when I can so for the price I don't mind. Hopefully I will enjoy it more once I play it for real.
Interesting fact: In Japan, you can go to the convenience store to buy points for any of the current console. You can even actually buy some coupon from your cellphone too.

I've seen points cards for all three consoles at Walmart* in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Actually it's not points cards like at the game store or Walmart/Zellers etc. You go to a special machine, browse the menu and find the options for points for the console you want. You decide how much you want and it will print an invoice. You go to the register and pay. The employee will then print a ticket with a code that will work right away.
With that machine you can buy all kind of stuff like tickets for see baseball match, train/plane ticket etc. I don't think I saw anything like that in the States of Canada unless it changed recently (topic split I guess it this continue).
I agree, Mega Man 9's music was actually pretty decent, while Mega Man 10 is just bad.
I have a spot for Mega Man 7's music though, especially the Cloud Man and Burst Man stage's.

A multikiosk doesn't work stateside because distribution groups cannot agree on a specific platform for purchases...not that it matters anyways as it seems all major vendors accept credit cards and allow purchase at TOD or an electronic purchase of points anyways...I haven't purchases a Wii or Microsoft Points card yet simply because they accept my card through the console.
I'm not sure how Sony does it because I don't use it enough to know.
AWal wrote:

I think the points cards are designed for 1. giving as gifts and 2. buying with cash, as a school-age child might do with lawn care money.
Not specifically. In Japan, it's not common to use credit card. I don't say they we don't have them is just not at common as the States or Canada. When you have one, you always pay the next month or in 2 times only. So most people pay their stuff at the convenience store. So point cards makes more sense here.
For example, I can buy something on Amazon and pay the receipt that I printed from the website at the convenience store. Same time for air plane tickets that I ordered from a website. This is more common in Japan.

the States of Canada
Haha, that is hilarious. Might as well just call it the United Provinces of America.
Anyhow, no, we have none of the commodities you have over there. We do things the old way. (Like buying from polar bears in igloo ticket booths.)
(I didn't spell it wrong) I always refer to the States and Canada since I'm Canadian myself. I just don't know if much changed in the last five year. Usually the systems were similar unless they changed that much recently.
I miss "this hour is 22 minutes" when they went to the States and asked how they felt that Canada had their national igloo or something
I didn't want to open a second thread just to give my last impression on the game in general.
Yes, I finished it. It felt more like I was forcing myself to do it thought. The game is mostly forgettable. I won't say any spoilers about the story and specific events/weapons for people that didn't play it yet.
The music doesn't grow on you and there is no such hit like the one in MM9.
The weapons are awkward in general compared to other MM but that could be debatable. By awkward is most of the time if the weapon hit directly the enemy, it doesn't do much damage: you have to hit a wall or something. Some are hard to use more than anything that using the normal gun is the best in weapon in most scenario.
The game will please any people that wants to play "just another mega man" (i.e. the hardcore fan) but it won't be anything that you will remember like MM2 and maybe MM9. Nothing new here, just another game made very fast "a la" Capcom.
Other people feel that way about it? After finishing it, I feel like going back to MM9/2 instead.

Well that was already the case for MM4, 5 and 6 for me.
@Banshaku: if you had to compare MM10 with another MM, what would it be? You know, MM9 equals to MM2 and MM5 in my opinion.
This is a good question. I don't remember enough previous MM to be able to say well how it fare compared to other one. I would have to play them again to make a better comparison. The only one I do remember well is MM/MM2/MM9. The other ones, they never left any good impression for me.
So from my point of view, I would say that it closer to MM6 since it felt rushed with nothing original.
edit:
At the least, it cost only 10$ so it's not so bad compared to long time ago when we had to play 60$ and more for something that was not so great in the end.
Well,acutally i like Almost Last battle(Won't say who is messing with mega this time)
Oh,And music from trailer if fine with me,also while showing "Easy mode" was pretty good.
About weapons:They are hopeless,maybe 1 or 2 of then is "nice",but overall they are nothing compared to those from past.
BUt,there's a plus-you can play as Protoman(Hey,it's no spoiler,it was in trailer...).
Stages are built very nicely.(Can't say why-spoilers)
Overall i can give 8,5/10 points for Megaman10.
Maybe 9/10 if I have good mood...
- I really couldn't resist this time, I really tried to wait until March 31, but it's an eternity! It's like in my childhood, when I always was in an hurry to get the brand new MegaMan game.
- So, I bought a Wii last night.
And could buy Wii points using my credit card, something MUCH easier than the X360 XBLA account system. So, I'm very happy!
- Regarding the game, my opinion is exactly the oppositive of Banshaku. The music, indeed, has no reminds of previous games, though, it's much original and makes justice to a new MegaMan game style. It's awesome.
As a retro player, I have my own way of enjoying a game - I defeated 5 robot masters, and I stopped. The learning curve is higher than in MM9, but it's very fun and addictive. ^_^;;
- The Wii itself is a great system. Most of bigger and hottest titles in modern graphics don't make justice on it, but its options are awesome.
This is why I said that hardcore Mega man fan won't have an issue with it and will still enjoy it. Since your previous avatar was using a Rockman X image, I'm guessing you're in that group. As for me, I'm not.

- Err, not a
fanboy ok? ^_^;;
I don't think being a fan always makes it easier to put up with crap in your favorite franchise... In fact it's usually the opposite. I hate what SEGA has has been doing to Sonic in the past 10 years, and I'm hating Sonic 4 (even more than the recent crappy games, because this was supposed to be "retro") so far.

- Indeed. Anyway, I never was a Sonic player though. ^_^;; After Sonic 2, it's all crap.

Due to child labor laws, mowing neighbors' lawns is pretty much the only way a child can earn money over the summer to buy toys. And even then, a child has to pay cash for things, not use a credit/debit card. That's one reason why iTunes gift cards and Nintendo Points cards exist.
@Zepper:
Maybe not a fanboy as the derogatory term but you must really, really like Mega man if you were ready to buy another console even though in Brazil there is all those insane taxes so you can have it 15 days earlier
It must have a little bit of impact on how much you like #10 since you had to invest so much just to play it earlier.
@Tokumaru:
It depends what kind of fan you're talking to. The one closer to fanboy will always find something good about things even thought there is many flaw (see Mac zealots in general, not normal Mac users). As for Sonic, they really run that series down into the ground and I'm not expecting much from #4 too.

?
S3+K is arguably one of the best platformers ever!

- I don't remember of having the same impulsive thing when MM9 was released; from what I remember, "the day has arrived, I almost forgot" was in my mind that day. No clue about my MM10 wish to play... odd.
- Anyway, the Wii was double-priced (+ a bit more) in 2008. Now, it has an accessible price. It was worth the effort after all.
@Disch
- Well, whatever.
I was really impulsive waiting for MM10,because of Protoman as main character!
And his not that bad..a big challenge to get through Hard mode...
And I really liked idea of first Wily Castle-Old robots are back.
Ending makes me wondering...
Will Dr.Wily be still evil?
Well,It looks like I have to wait until MM11
I'm having a hard time playing it through emulation, so I can't judge properly. The colors are all screwed up and the music is a bit slow...
- It's me or the MM10 soundtrack resembles the Game Boy music? Example: compare the Stage Start track with that one from Mega Man III.
my initial thoughts on the soundtrack were here:
http://famitracker.shoodot.net/forum/po ... e=2&id=621
some spoilers though for those who haven't finished it.
anyway (final castle) stage 2 and final boss have grown on me since then... and maybe sheep man past the intro.
I read and agree with Rushjet1 comment. Solar man and Pump man songs, because of those "harp" thingy, doesn't sound very megamanish. This is one thing that turned me off right away.
Edit:
When Tssf, from the beginning, didn't want to do the sountrack.. This kind of a bad sign
Just to say I was also very disappointed by the music of Mega Man Star Force 2. The game is good tough - just the music which is honestly fairly bad, and doesn't live up close to previous Mega Man Battle Network games (even the original Star Force had better music).
- Offtopic: do you know how to display those special borders in MM10? I have a 16:9 LCD TV and, like MM9, it has black borders due to the game 4:3 aspect. Here's
a screenshot of what I mean.

To fix that, click the link, then press enter in the url bar when it gives you the forbidden message. Worked on firefox this time, at least.
@tepples: fixed the link, it works on ImageShak.us
Here's a guess only: maybe it's not available in the Wii version and only in the PS3 one. It shows on the PS3 without settings. Only other Wii user will be able to confirms it. In MM9, there was no border on the PS3.
- This feature is available for MM10 only. ^_^;; I've read it everywhere, and since the Wii port has been released (firstly), I wonder why isn't there...
Another guess again: Wii users may not uses wide screen TV since the platform is not targeted at HD gaming in the first place. Thus, the lack of the side art. For PS3/xbox360, not much choice to use one if you really want to appreciate normal game.
Wii is an EDTV console, and EDTV is most often 16:9. The Wii Menu includes a 16:9 option, but the existing Mega Man games on VC don't correct the aspect ratio.
Like I said before, it is a guess. And even thought the Wii support EDTV, it doesn't mean that people that bought a Wii had or were planing to by an EDTV/HDTV in the first place. There is good chance that the target audience doesn't care about that factor in the first place anyway.
Mega Man 9/10 (and i'm guessing the older games?) use component-I to display while playing them. What I'd do is, if it doesn't correct for aspect ratio, set my projector to 16:9 for Component-P and 4:3 for Component-I... however that gets very seedy for MM9/10 since they DO correct, so i'd just change it on the fly i guess.
I guess I'm getting in better "term" with the soundtrack of the game, thanks to Tssf rendition. It still not my favorite one but at least I like it a little bit better then the first time I listened to it.
I still don't like much the weapon in the game thought
The 3 blades thing is useful for spamming a boss when you don't know which weapon to use. This is faster than the normal gun but has the dis-advantage that you have to be just beside the target.
- About the MM10 soundtrack:
a) It's
not crap in anyways.
b) If you don't like it, then it's probably not for you. ^_^;;
c) It makes a
new style, a MM10-music style, very enjoyable.
d) It's better than MM9. Of course, MM9 has some awesome tunes, like Concrete Man, but awful like Tornado Man.
- When Banshaku said "it's crap", well... I got the worst idea possible. I'm happy it's not that way. ^_^;; I LIKE THE BLADE MAN THEME!

- I was kidding a bit... ^_^;;
Yeah,Blade man,Nitro man and Dr Wily(first one) is IMO best ones.
- Uh, I'd say... Pump Man, Solar Man and Wily 4. ^_^;;
how do people like blade man? it sounds terrible at the beginning, then terrible for the end, the middle is OK but not great
the best are Commando, Sheep, Solar, Wily2, and Wily Boss 1
... and nitro's first half
