used to be a myth, but not anymore. found it on retrogames boards. got to see
this!!! XD
What does Mafia II, rated M, for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, have to do with jumping over a flagpole?
Oh wait, that was an ad. You'd think at least they'd have an ad for a game with the same ESRB rating and on the same company's hardware as the game shown in the video that follows the ad.
I forget which but I am pretty sure theres a level where you can jump over the flagpole and goto the 2nd ending of the level.
After watching the video I think it may be 2-1.
I thought everyone knew this already?
& you didn't have to go to gametrailers, you could've just went here:

jajajajajaj nice video! XD
hehe,
there was always a rumor going around the school that some kid managed to jump the flag pole, but I never saw it in real life, so to speak.
I did it when I was little, and no not game genie assisted
The only time I've done it is in SMB2j, where you're supposed to be able to. I thought I'd found an amazing secret as I continued to run past the end of the level, only to be outraged when I found the secret was a warp zone back to world 1! The developers were really tricky to do that
.
I'm sure if you do it in the original somehow, the game would glitch/crash or something stupid would happen. It's not like you're going to find 1 million extra lives and super invincibility powers or anything...
EDIT: Oh, now I actually took the time to watch the video, and whaddya know! I was right: something really stupid happens
.
If you do it in the original, you just end up running on a looping level until time runs out.
Edit: Ah. The first video posted says as much. That's what I get for not watching.
If you jump over the flag and keep running, you'll find a secret level where there is a heavy machine gun, with all kinds of mode 7 effects, and giant robots.
But only on the version of All-Stars that has the debug mode in SMB3, right?
Naw, it's in the Mexican release version also.

somebody should make a mexican-mario hack (!).
What could possibly be more awesome than a fat plumber in a sombrero jumping the flagpole?

I'm pretty sure it already exists.

A fat (albeit awesome) plumber in a wheelchair, perhaps?

Jumping over a flagpole?
Absolutely. There used be a SMB-hack back in the heydays of Nesticle which had those super brothers jump 'n run all over the Mushie kingdom in their fancy wheelchairs.
I bet it looked somewhat liked the motorcyclists on Golgo 13, eh?
