I need help translating the title of the game from this image:
http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/8462 ... 662306.jpg
Also, if you could reproduce the letters in a post or something, that would really be of help, too.
The three big characters at the top (魂斗罗) spell "Contra", with the simplified 罗 replacing the traditional 羅. Next line?
Yes, what about the next line, please?
But also, how come the letters in the title are written differently than 魂斗罗? They almost look like different letters due to bent letters (is there a specific font that allows this type of lettering?).

Text distortion happens in every language when you use heavily stylized fonts, this is not any different in Chinese.
Ok, so all I need now is the text RIGHT below "Contra". Can anyone please tell me what that says?
I can't find the first or last han in a jiten or hanzi dictionary, but the middle two are 化虽.
I couldn't find the last character, but I got the first: 进化革 (and we seem to disagree on the third character...)
EDIT: I got the following: 进化革命
A dictionary translates this as "Evolution Revolution"
Thanks a lot.
Back around a loop.... damnit.
Two resources to help you out -- but you still need someone familiar with composition and English to do accurate translations:
http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php (does both)
http://www.zhongwen.com/ (mainly for traditional, not simplified)
I'm particularly fond of the first resource. These recommendations come from someone who took Mandarin for 5 years. :-)
no idea about it.
but if you are really interested with that.
try to use google translate.
try this link :

I don't know if you misunderstood the original poster, because google translate isn't of any use in this case. He didn't have a piece of text; he had an image containing some characters that he wanted to know the meaning of. As far as I know google translate doesn't do character recognition. At least not of chinese.

And after I found the characters I have tried automatic translation, with the results mentioned in my previous post.
Is it possible that WinAmp is just a "human bot"? That post was pretty random...
This guy is SO OBVIOUSLY a spammer. See his post count ?
This board suffers from weak protection. I know that it's not moderator's fault, but to be honnest I'm a regular on a lot of other boards and the problem is never as intense as here.
I have a message board, it's really easy to tell who the spam-bots are. Just look for the female usernames.
No girls on the internets.

My sister, who designed the

ED's dogma.
I was about to make a reply like mic_'s until it clicked that this newbie might be a spammer. (I just blocked a slightly more blatant one today.) But does anyone really use Winamp instead of VLC media player anymore, apart from running NSF, PSF-family, and other game-rip music in plug-ins?

No, there are lots of girls, just not in these geeky forums we spend most of our time in. Actually, I visit a few other geeky forums, and AFAIK this is the only one that really doesn't have a single girl. Girls don't like to code, for whatever reason.

I know people who could never let go of Winamp and still use it today. My brother, for example. I don't use VLC though... I think it's a great program, but its interface sucks, and it was too unstable the last time I tried.
I've also spent 6 years in classes with not a single girl (or just a couples of ones depending on the classes) (I'm student in Electrical Engineering) so I'm really used to this.
Unlike IRL human relations, relation on this (and others) forums are 100% intellectual, so there it doesn't really matter what gender other members of the forum are.
But there is definitely girls in the Computer Science faculty on the campus I'm on. I've even had a female CS teacher, so yeah this is very possible.
And I use Winamp all the time. (like right now haha). I listen way more frequently video games music than anything else. No wonder why I use so much less disk drive space than "most people".

I studied Computer Science too, and although there were always girls around they were outnumbered by guys in most classes, specially the ones where more programming was involved.

Yeah, I had a few female teachers too, but never for subjects like Java or web development. Math, Artificial Intelligence and Interfaces are the ones I remember right now...
I am a girl.
I have a degree in computer science and I nesdev for the lulz. Hi, guys
I think it's because most women can't really see how you do something and the work you put in results in the end product. You ever try to show a crap house to some girl and try to tell them all it needs is just this and that and they're just like "IT CAN'T BE FIXED.". LOL.
If anyone in my school is close to being a computer programmer, I'd be shocked. I'm in Highschool, hopefully get some community college in with programming and get a small degree or something, but then move onto better things.
EDIT:
Awesome. One normal girl in the world! WHOOOO!

I, for one, have built many computers from parts and repaired left-for-dead machines... I'm also a programmer, artist, musician, and writer, so I think I can conceptualize the process of work and creation
A bad idea de-lurks!
Did you ever get the job that you were working on your cover letter for (from IRC)?

Not yet. I'm in the queue for several different jobs.

That happens with a buyer of either sex. To reach these buyers, pretend you're on
A&E's Flip This House: do the renovation before selling.

True, a PC built from parts of PCs that were old enough to have been left for dead might be fast enough to run Facebook but not Left 4 Dead
I guess that's one reason why I stick with NES development: its tools have much lower system requirements than XNA Game Studio.

Me. You won't catch me using VLC for anything, unless whatever video file I come across won't play in MPC-HC. But for audio, I use Winamp (with all video support disabled).
I still use winamp for all music playback on my Windows machines.
I also still use Winamp for everything, MP3s, ripped music, and videos (I like having the pre-amp available because some videos are encoded with WAY too low sound throughout, if there is 1 part where it gets really loud). I use Media Player Classic if I have to (for selecting alternate audio tracks, subtitles, etc.). Heh, Windows Media Player doesn't even work on my machine now.. I mean it loads and runs and plays, but it won't output any sound at all. I don't really care (I only ever open it by accident), but WTF is that? It's like some hidden "user is deaf" option is checked.
not to contribute to the disorder or anything. but wow, this thread really derailed
- WinAmp crashes every time I try to play a WMV file, compiled with Windows Movie Maker.
I can read chinese but not so much.
