In response to AVGN's complaint about a lack of good Ninja Gaiden health GG codes i've created a no-damage GG code.
Ninja Gaiden 1 (US) No Damage: AVZVGP
If anybody can comfirm this does work on a real GG (n' US Cart) it would be much appreciated.
AVGN's Ninja Gaiden video is great if you haven't seen it btw. (NSFW)
Load the ROM in FCEUCX. Go to the GG code maker, and type the code in. If there's only 1 affected ROM address, then you're good. Doesn't really need testing, it doesn't change the engine or anything. It just changes some logic.
I've tested on fceux and it works there, i was just wanted to make sure that someone with the hardware could use it before i share it.
I always feel much safer when seeing an 8 letter code. But since this targets the fixed bank, seems like it's okay.
Keep in mind the videos are for entertainment. I don't think he genuinely needs a cheat code. With how busy he is I doubt he has that much time to be busy playing games just for enjoyment of playing a game. But making your own GG codes can be fun. I've made many. For example Ninja Gaiden (all 3 of them) contain hidden level select menus. I list codes to access them on a real cartridge with a game genie on my
webpage.
I had an Earthbound (Mother 2) file with most of the rare 1/128 items acquired (Excepting the Gutsy Bat and Magic Fry Pan). One day my friend and I were playing the game and he whipped the cartridge with the controller cord. That froze the game and made the same sound heard in those checksum failure videos (Where the anti-piracy is activated and near the very end of the game it freezes on purpose and deletes all save files). Sure enough, my saves were gone. So I took the time to whip up some gg codes that would modify the items loaded into the inventory when starting a new game.
The biggest problem, since I don't know that much about SNES coding, was figuring out which rom address to modify.
