Jumper for NES Controller Port
by on (#129505)
I have an NES controller port like the one pictures here (minus the wires):

I'm trying to wire it to my BASIC Stamp microcontroller to control a servo, and the standard jumper wires don't fit the pins. I'm pretty new to electronics, so I'm not sure what else to try. I know that you can buy a circuit board with the controller mounted and wired, but I'd like to do it myself if possible.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

KKat

Do you mean the pins inside the jack, that would normally connect to a gamepad? They're slightly larger than normal 1/10" header, more comparable to the pins in a DE9 ("serial") connector. (They're about 1mm in diameter)

Or do you mean the ones on the other side, that in the picture have been soldered to the PCB? That's 2mm spacing, probably the exact same size as the old PATA laptop hard drive pins.

I mean the ones on the other side (attached to the PCB in the picture). Do they make jumpers that size (I haven't heard of PATA laptop hard drive pins)?

Thanks,

I don't think they make preassembled jumper cables, but the pins are the same size as LED leads, or you could buy pin header from digikey or someone else (Shipping might be prohibitive).
