So I sold someone 4 games and unfortunately I did not make him verify they work. Well he emailed me the next day saying none of them worked. Mind you he picked 4 out of over 300 nes games I am selling. I told him to bring them back and I would look at them.
None of them worked. I compared boards and the chr and prg chips were just as they were on my other copies so they appeared to be the correct boards. No traces broke, clean boards nothing out of the ordinary.
Racking my head back and forth trying to figure out what he did as it is practically impossible they all were bad. Out of thousands of nes games over the past 20+ years I have come across like 2 games that were bad.
It was weird as they gave me power like glitches. One was a wavy gray and white type screen like it is on the wrong channel, the other has like pink and red screens, and the other 2 have garbled graphics.
Out of curiosity I took a game I had that while it worked fine had major bit rot all over the pins. I tested it and it worked. I removed from case and put in system backwards, powered on and pin/red screens. I put back in case correctly and now it does not work at all and gives the pink/red screens.
While I know it is not likely to put a game in backwards on original hardware he had a cheap Game tek system that quite frankly is made so bad it probably would allow the game be put in backwards.
Anyhow anychance just the cic or mapper are fried and the prg and chr chips are ok or are they basically trashed now.
