One of my carts had rust type stuff all over it, so I was trying to be careful and clean it off, and one of the diodes? fell off it. It is a TKROm-01 board, Shadowgate. It is the one that appears to connect right before the battery.....Looks like if you held it up, it might have a clear shell, but a blue tip (thick) at one end, and in the middle just a single blue line.
Any help on what one this is would be great, hopefully I can pick it up at radioshack. Thanks!
Your saves are gone, but the diode is easily replacable by another one, just place a diode where the old was and put the cathode where it's indicated on the board (where there is a ring arround the component). As long as you have a soldering iron there is no problem in doing that. I'd recommand putting a shotky diode to reduce forward voltage, however the current is so low that any diode will do actually.

Hmm, that's a good idea. So you could get some extra life out of those lithium batteries, by using a Schottky diode?
I have no idea in fact, maybe yes, maybe this will make no difference, and maybe the original diodes are already shotcky diodes.
Actually I have a handfull of games producted in the early '90s and that still have good batteries, so the life is more than 15 years long anyway.
I think any small signal diode will work. If you can't get any I have lots.
Would any of you all happen to be so nice as to put a link to what I would need on radio shack, I really have no clue, but I do have a soldering iron to do it with...I just need a link to the diode or whatever it is I would need. Its the one that connects directly before the battery, going verticle, right side of the batt.
Thanks alot!
