Anyone ever thought about that?
or maybe a replica?
AFAIK, the only difference is the microphone on controller 2 on the FC (and lack of start/select buttons) and the different color scheme.
What are you hoping for by using a FC controller?
Just to have a fancy FC controller in my controller collection.
I don't know. The famicom I have, the controller are not as precise as the american one. It could be that my famicom is too old but I can't confirm.
I had very old american game pads in the past and they were not as terrible as the one I have for the famicom.
Try looking for a "Joycard Sansui SSS" pad, manufactured by Hudson Soft. Not only do they resemble Famicom pads (in dark grey), they have adjustable turbo fire, a headphone jack (really!), a thicker profile, rounded corners, and wonderful precision. The only problem I've had with them is that the middle turbo fire setting seems to die prematurely.
It's actually fairly easy to do a famicom to nes controller conversion. When I found out my famicom was borked, I took off the player 1 controller, and hooked it up to the cord and plug from an old NES pad I had. Now I play all my NES games with an awesome - 8+ foot corded famicom controller. I mostly did it because i wanted a longer controller cord, but the famicom look is pretty cool too.
Be careful though, and look at the connections on the circuit board inside of the case for BOTH controllers carefully before doing anything. On mine, the wire colors did not match, even the the pinout did. I'd show you guys a picture, but I'm not at home righ tnow.
headphones to hear the game?

Assuming you're replying to me, yes. The controller has an RCA cable coming out of the NES plug (an actual Nintendo-branded plug, even!), which is just long enough to reach the AV jacks on the side of a toaster NES. Within the controller, the audio is amplified, sent through a volume slider, and split to "stereo" for the headphone jack.
Now, I haven't actually tested the headphone jack on my controller, so I can't tell you how good it sounds...

is this only controller 2, or both?
also what happens if you use two controller 2's if that is possible? i don't quite follow how controller 1 and controller 2 could be non-interchangeable.
