Picked up a unlabeled NES cart at a flea market and opened it up to this surpised. It's a X-in-1 game.
Any ideas what this is? It has an embedded 60-72 converter, as you can see.

So it is not a single game,maybe multicart or other game.
Look like I have this cart too. It's a pretty sucky first generation multicart with the regular the usual game found on those multicart. Sorry but it is nothing really exciting, the included famicom to nes adapter is more valuable than the cart itself

Just one question - 74xx153 is double 4->1 MUX, right? What for?
I haven't traced the circuit, but in a mapper, muxes are good for setting mirroring or for switching among different bank sizes (e.g. 16 KiB NROM or 32 KiB NROM).

Also, it has to be the same game you posted. My case color is the yellowsh grey that yours is in. Mine is just label-less.
The converter looks really similar to the one that is in Gryomite carts, exept the lockout which is a defeat circuit instead of a real CIC.
Also it looks like those converters could also work in the other direction (NES->Famicom) provided you have a 72-pin female-female connector (definitely not a common item).
I wonder if those 60-pins connectors are common, if so then it should be easy for reatrozone to make such converters, with a Ciclone on the PCB.
Stoneage gamer sell a very cheap nes to famicom converter. It's not well enginered and has issue but it can easily be modified to work properly with the powerpak or any cart for that matter.
I have that one from StoneAgeGamer. The only issue is that it's not compatible with carts that use CIRAM signal, but it can be easily fixed by cutting two traces and soldering two wires
