Well damn, really sorry to hear that. Pretty pathetic that a "friend" would steal something so nostalgic from you.

Wish you the best but I'm not sure what else you can do if the courts have ruled against you. Other than publicly outing the individual to ensure that he gets a black mark in the community.

I have had 4 of the grey NWC carts. I can't remember them all but I should be able to work out what was what.

Off the top of my head I bought David Moretons direct, I also bought Brad Russos direct off him as well. I am fairly sure all the buyers wanted to remain anonymous and most likely the sale price.

FYI I no longer own any NWC carts.

Edit: Just read your story Jason, I am sorry to hear that
I don't blame you for being upset, just don't let it consume you (especially when you see the prices etc as that is never easy).
I wish you luck! Thank you for sharing your story.

That's messed up. Worse because it's someone you trusted.

After reading that story, I now feel that NWC carts have reached the realm of true art...deception, page-turning tales of theft and mystery, etc.

I'm really sorry to hear about this story though I hope that at some point you can recover what is truly yours.

This is one of the exact reasons I documented the carts for 10 years, so no one could fake one or rip someone off. I wish I could have known about cart 223 sooner. I would have tried to get more history on it. Maybe it would have helped. I dunno. So sorry to hear your story, Jason.

How would anyone know if that isn't just a NWC put in zelda case?

i wonder the same thing. Seems like it would be super easy for someone to do and potentially make a huge financial gain.

NWC #234 is not listed/documented so far. I watched a listing recently (one day listing) for $5k where the seller had zero feedback and the name written in the pics didn't match the seller name. Contacted seller and got no reply. Wasn't surprised it didn't sell. However, the game might be real, but just stolen pics (no board pics to confirm either). Anyone know anything about this copy? Might be good to document it in OP's original post.

Here is the ebay listing -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251659855...

If that link didn't work then try this item number: 251659855326

Edit: This copy did not sell, seller did not respond to message, and ultimately it was not relisted. Likely a scam seller but I have no reason to think the pics are fake.

NWC #308 is not listed/documented so far and is currently up for sale. Same question as above. Anyone have any info on this cart? Seller has 3 feedback, there is only one pic, and the background according to the seller is the following - "This is a rare cartridge from the Nintendo World Championships. My uncle promoted this championship tour in 1990 and gave me the cartridge while cleaning out his house several years ago. I'm doing the same and would rather this be owned by someone who would appreciate the cultural and historical significance more than I. As you can see, the label is intact with a serial number. Please feel free to ask any questions. Additionally, please feel free to inquire about inspection or additional photos."

Sent message to seller requesting more pics and specifically of the board.

At some point in the future, I wouldn't doubt if more NWC gold carts were discovered and the list is going to pass 26, then the community is going to be in a pickle.

I have some Dutch (Netherland) Club Nintendo magazine's laying around that talk about NWC.
They held a contest and the winner of the contest would be able to go the US to take part in the contest.

If each European country had a similar contest there might be more in Europe then people think..
But if all these survived is difficult to say. These could have been scrapped long ago.

Edit: I will look for the magazine and upload it here. But it will be in Dutch

In regards to the NWC Cart #308 posted on eBay by AdamJaz on eBay 2 months ago for sale...

He finally agreed to terms with a buyer, but the buyer wanted to see the game tested. Two months ago, I messaged the seller and just showed interest in seeing the cartridge for curiosity's sake as his location was very close to mine (turns out it was significantly closer than I could have ever imagined). The seller messaged me yesterday and asked if I could help him test it. He came over tonight for an hour and we opened, cleaned, and played the cartridge. It is 100% real, but it is not mine (nor do I really want it).

The seller's uncle was contracted by Nintendo to help organize and run the NWC competition, and he was able to keep the cartridge after the competition. The cartridge has literally been in a box since 1990, and this was the first time it hit a system since the competition. It just happened to hit one of our systems. This thing is being shipped away this week, and it will be in a collector's home across the country.

Figured I would share what I know since the information is somewhat of a mystery. I don't feel it is my place to divulge any info about how much the cart sold for, and I don't know who bought it other than the fact that they are in the state of Virginia.

Here is an album of pictures I took this evening of the cart.

NWC #260 is no longer owned by Dreamstar....he sold it to me.

Dreamstar did in fact just win the NWC #308 auction.

No idea why he sold it to me so cheap just to turn around and get another.

There was a Gold NWC cart in a pawn shop in Fort Scott Kansas around 1999 or 2000. I was in looking for Zelda to play at my grandma's, I thought it was zelda when I first saw it in the game bin. I passed in it because It looked like a cheap sports game with a broken case... :/

It may still be in the area, but people from Fort Scott usually traded games in Pittsburgh, KS, or Joplin, MO. There is a good chance it ended up in Joplin, and we all know about that tornado afew years back. hopefully that cart is still safe somewhere.

I am the very happy new owner of #308. Dreamstar won the original auction but sold it recently to the owner of Video Game Heaven in Chesapeake, VI. He is now a member here (Civichatchbksi) and we had an easy and pleasant transaction.

To assist with continued documentation the new complete lineage for this cart is: Danny Socolof (original owner and NWC event producer) gave it to his nephew (ebay seller Adamjaz), who auctioned it on ebay (10/2014) and was won by Dreamstar, who then sold it (3/2015) to the owner of Video Game Heaven (NA user Civichatchbksi), who then sold it to me (3/2015).

In the original auction Adamjaz (ebay seller) said his uncle produced the competition and would provide the winner with a letter of authenticity. I'm trying to get in contact with him as that letter unfortunately never made its way to me. The only thing to note about this cart is that I believe that the top label has been readhered. A post in this thread has pics of this copy and it looks pretty clear that it was peeled like many of the other copies out there - http://m.imgur.com/a/Py9KL... While I wish that it had been left original, I'm not that worried about it, and I have to say that it looks a hell of a lot better!

I have collected for nearly a decade and never thought I'd own one of these so I'm so happy to now own this awesome piece of video gaming history! Last year I finally finished a complete NES set (all licensed and unlicensed per NA database) and wanted to get an NWC before it became unobtainable. Anyways, I wanted to post here to continue the documentation of this copy and to welcome it to the NA family. Speaking of the NA family, I want to give a special thanks to Mail_Bag for not only contacting me about this copy, but also being the middle man for the transaction. That help was the difference of me getting this copy or not, and the peace of mind throughout the transaction was priceless.

Thanks Mail_Bag, Darktone, and Attakid! It is an awesome piece of Nintendo history and I look forward to learning more about my cart as well as the competition if I get in touch with the original owner who was the producer of the NWC tour.
