I'm playing right now and I'm pretty confident that I'll be taking first place.

Red planet, act 2 I believe. Please feel free to call me out on the act, as I took this shot a few days ago.

score updated got home today so i had to rush 196800 game completed

well I got home today so I only had today to get it done I did not have all week to try to bring it down to sub 50000 wow what a score

I had log in issues and missed the deadline for posting a score. That's what I get for waiting I really enjoyed this, but ugh! Good scores to all that posted and congrats to all that beat the game.

Hmmm... 20k for the four planet bosses,another 15k for the first three mothership levels,(35k) 5k for completely taking out the shuttle,(40k) another 3k for destroying the frog shooter thingy,and another 1k for Air Marshal. (44k) Plus looks like you picked up a life bar extension for 3k (47k) and the rest of the 1.9k were 19 necessary kills for progress. Before I really did the math I was thinking a perfect low score was sub 50k.

I had no choice!  There's one on Blue Planet which I'm pretty certain is unavoidable.

Pretty impressive! How did you dodge the one on red planet when you have to hop on that ledge and it's like right by it? I could never avoid that one. I was tempted to try to dodge the one you are talking about by charging the jump with Bucky or even flying with Blinky,but I was too scared to try. Lol.

Wait,I think you are talking about the one on the part where the frogs throw the ice blocks,right? Yeah,no plan for that one.
 

You mean when you're on the rolling green ball, right?  I tried many times to jump over it with Bucky or fly over it with Binky and failed every time.  Then I realized there was a simple solution.  Just duck.  If you're ducking on the green ball, you won't hit any of the spikes.  Once the ball starts rolling right, you can stay on it for that entire section.

Edit:  Yeah, the one where the ice blocks are being thrown is the one I can't avoid.

^Ah,I didn't even think about that. I just used the platform. That would've saved me 3k there. I should have had a sub 100k score but I picked up some of those hearts either because I couldn't avoid them or simply didn't want to die. I think I picked up three total on the planet stages and probably another 4-5 on the toad mothership.

Also didn't switch to Blinky quick enough after the lava river area and that added 3k. Actually fell off that platform and collected it before hitting select. Also screwed myself badly in the last stage as I picked up 2 hearts and died right before I destroyed the shuttle which tacked an extra 4k on my score.

Oh well. I'd have to had a near perfect run to win anyway. Is this your favorite game ever by chance? Or you had this growing up? I can't see someone posting a score like that for a game that they hate or even just sort of like.

Damn, too bad we don't have another week, I'd love to try and challenge that score. In my run I was picking up the random heart here and there for the first half of the game instead of just dying and starting over with full health. I just wanted a high life count at the end of the game, but that caused me to have a higher score.

Dang I missed this contest... this is yet another game thats been burning a hole in my backlog pile. Although a contest facing people who are really good might not be the best time to try playing it for the first time.

I think we tied for 8th place overall.

The worst part for me is all the jumping. Jump, jump, jump, jump, jump. Duck, jump. Jump and crawl. The option to switch characters is a cool idea but somehow it just feels forced into the game.

I did end up beating the game but had to use a few continues, which made it a lil harder with the loss of the life meter through "escape".

I definitely sacrificed a few lives just to avoid getting hearts/points.

Believe it or not, this was the first time I seriously played it (I had previously played 10 minutes or so just to make sure the cart worked when I bought it a few years ago).  I heard it was a pretty tough game and thought I wouldn't be able to compete with people familiar with it, so I was originally going to just play a few minutes for a participation score, but I wound up really enjoying it.  There were certainly some tough spots, but I found it to be much easier than some of the other games in this tournament.

I found it fairly easy as well. My first time playing was a few weeks ago when I bought it. I played to the first boss, figured out how to beat him, and then put it away. Learned quickly that there's no forcing the bosses to die. You just have to take the shots they give you. I like to go fast, and you gotta go slow and steady in this one. I'll probably never play it again.
