Quick suggestion about the trading system

I am already thoroughly impressed with the trading system, but I have one suggestion to make it better. On the Transactions page, underneath the "user" column, I do not like how it has my username (burnambill333) listed for transactions that I initiated. OBVIOUSLY I am involved with the transaction, but who is the other person? The other person's username should be listed at all times.

I also suggest that you be able to delete transactions off that page if you want to, OR automatically be moved to a different folder if they are completed and feedback is left. I have a bunch of transactions there that are completed and their presence confuses me with the active ones.

I really like the idea of showing both names of the parties involved. I have found it quite hard to filter through my 9 pages worth of pending trades to see who has and hasn't left feedback and who I need to leave it for. ~~NGD

I dont actually know what I am supposed to do for th transactions.

I have 5 at the moment, all are historical.

The choices are:

Add message,

Change terms,

Accept terms

Close transaction

Should I be just closing them or should I be updating with additional info about previous trades?

Nope just click Accept Terms, and then you can immediately leave feedback. Then they should in kind now that they're able to (since you accepted!) at a future time. Speaking of which, I need to send you a request for my Sudoku (which I love with all of my heart and other important organs)!

Another suggestion for this, how about expanding the new message notification bar to be a general notification (to do) bar so it can tell you when you have outstanding actions for transactions?

Yeah, I've had a few people accept the transaction but left no feedback.

I'm afraid they don't even know they're supposed to leave feedback.

It is a lot to take in at once Chad, we understand. I posted a guide to help with the transaction system for everyone to look over. If anyone else wants a quick guide on some of the other feature just ask and we will get one up. ~~NGD

I personally dont like "closing" the transaction until the items have been sent and/or received.
I'm about to see what happens when I "accept terms" to see if it closes it or not.
Al

Edit-  Yeah.  Accepting the terms closes the transaction. So I just have to remember to go back and leave feedback after I get the items.

It doesn't close it, but it "sets it in stone" as a transaction, meaning at that point since both parties agreed, your only real option is to post feedback. You can close a transaction, however, before both/either parties agree.

That makes sense. I think for me, what I've been trying to do isn't what I am supposed to do, so its just an excercise in me becoming familiar with the system.
For example, I had planned to add an annotation later with a tracking number, but that's something I need to remember to do before I accept the terms.

Any chance of adding another column to indicate whether feedback has been left or received?

BTW, congrats. I'm extremely impressed.

Is there anyway to "Delete" a transaction after both parties have accepted and left appropriate feedback? My Transaction screen is getting a little clogged up with "old" deals. And thanks again Dain I think its great you actually listen to the members and we can see the results so quickly!!!

Pretty sure his working on both the things you mentioned Al and Chad. Dain works amazingly fast on so many of the suggestions/fixes. I call him all the time and say what about this or that and while we are talking he has it fixed while I am on the phone with him. ~~NGD

I'm re-organizing the main transactions screen to allow you to view based on status, by default hiding completed transactions. There will be other options for viewing transactions that you need to leave feedback for, haven't been left feedback for, and possibly a "nudge" feature to remind the other party to leave feedback (available 14 days after a transaction has been completed).

I'm even considering automating non-reciprocated feedback. On ebay, if you don't leave feedback, it's usually because you don't want retaliatory comments, you forgot, or you don't care. Because we're not ebay, and we can do what we want and feedback is especially important to us, I'm considering creating a bot that first reminds the user to leave feedback (at 30 days); if they don't, then... I need some ideas. What should happen? Should the person who already left feedback get theirs removed? Should we create a special "mark" to alert people that the person is a feedback "deadbeat"? I'm really open to ideas here.

Another suggestion: Can't you hide the zero of users who haven't traded yet ? IMO, the zero makes them look like they are noob's.

Well, that's why there's the "joined" date. If they haven't traded yet, in a way they're "noobs" to trading on NA (unless they start catching up on past deals). Anyone else want it gone? Keep it?

I say keep it. Seeing that zero there will make a lot of people want to start trading just to get rid of it, by doing that it makes them more a part of a community and less or a lurker if that makes sense.

I think the feedback reminder is a great idea as well. I currently have 11 older transaction (from past stuff, non current) of people who have accepted and not left any feedback in return. An email or pm nudge would be great after say 20-25 days. But there needs to be some type of negative impact if the person continues to not leave feedback. Maybe like locking them out of the forum until their delinquent feedback is cleared up? ~~NGD

I think locking them out of doing any transactions might be one option as well.
