yeah....me too...it all seems to fall apart for me between level 16-20 at some point and i cannot recover

I feel the same way Matty, once my second ship is destroyed I feel like I am just scrambling around just blind shooting then

No 15 million this time.  I honestly hoped this game would never get picked again after last year.

Taking off for the weekend.  Best of luck to everyone!

I haven't played since Thursday afternoon when I updated my last score, so I doubt there's any way I'm going to get close to a million. Between the Bearcats basketball game at noon today and all of the NFL playoff games this weekend, I'm not sure how many more runs (if any) that I'm going to be able to get in. I may just have to cross my fingers and hope that my current score holds up.

It's been a chore for me the past two days to try and beat my 217k score.

Tier 2: 214,930. Posting now 'cause I may/may not have a chance to update so I want to get a score in. I might be in the minority but I prefer to play the later rounds with just one ship. I lose the second ship around the 13th or so round.

Well, I'm officially dropping out of this tournament. I haven't had any time to play this week and I won't have any next week either. I appreciate all the time and effort that goes into these things and I wish everyone else the best of luck. Next time will be different, though.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

-
Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I just updated my score for a lousy +10,000 improvement and felt pretty accomplished.  There's just something about this game that doesn't work for me.  I don't know exactly what the problem is, but something is just "off" with the way that the controls work with my brain or something.  Hours and hours of practice... meh.

I appreciate the place this game has in the history and development of a hobby that I love.  However, this piece of history is kicking the crap out of me.  I might have another try in me, but I also might not.  If I manage to survive my tier, I'll make a comeback next week!

Up Next: Majora's Mask

^ I'm sure you'll be fine. I honestly haven't played this since my last update. I've been caught up in the "can NA complete every nes game in a year" thread. Lol. I probably will play some more tonight to see if I can improve, but if I don't and get eliminated I'm not worried about it. Plus I own most of the carts offered up as prizes,so most likely if I won anything it would be traded or donated back.

^ I've actually been looking at that thread recently and thought about participating as well, it would definitely give me a reason to play a lot of the games in my collection. Lately I've been playing Super Mario 3D World and Kirby's Epic Yarn but when my wife is playing those it would be nice to sit down and try and knock out a game on the list.

I have to work until 11 PM tomorrow night, so I'm gonna bump the end time of this contest to 11 PM NA time and give you guys an extra hour We're getting a snow storm tonight through tomorrow night, so I may not get Round 2 posted until closer to midnight considering I'm gonna have to drive through 10 inches of snow and it will take me a little more time than usual to get home.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

Awesome story, but now I'll never look at Galaga quite the same way again- at least in the arcade.

A little bit of an improvement, but not what I would like. If only I hadn't let my skills erode. Been the first time I've played this in years. Oh well, can't win them all.

I've been trying to get close to Tonya's score but every time I lose my second ship, it's pretty much over for that run. Ughhhhh.

I may give it another shot today, but I doubt I'm going to get anywhere near Tom's million point score since I haven't played any in the last three days. I finally felt like I was starting to play better when I posted my last score, but I didn't want to burn myself out already in the event that I'm able to hang on and make it to the next round.

Yeah, I didn't want to burn myself out either. I felt like I almost did earlier in the year with Ninja Gaiden II.

I've already gone through one NES controller this week. Also a GameCube controller, but that's another story. In the words of Wreck It Ralph, my passion bubbles very close to the surface.

That was a really tough game for the second round, especially with Life Force in the finals. I tried playing a quick game of Galaga just now before the Bengals game starts and I'm right back where I started at the beginning of the week so I'm probably stuck with my score unless I have some time (and luck) later.

I have a retro shop a few blocks away. I bought a Yobo GameCube controller yesterday, but I already had extra NES controllers available. Unfortunately my stock is getting low.

Hey guys!

I must apologize for the lack of communication on my end. I was off the web for the past weeks, so I wasn't really able to participate in the tournament, and I forgot to mention it officially somehow at the right time. But I'll try to root for you from now on!

I just browsed through the thread and there's some awesome scores all around! Keep up the good work and good luck to everyone advancing to round 2. Also, thanks for the good jokes, that's truly appreciated. The Quebecers, lol, I remember watching them on tv when I was young.
