Hello everyone,
I recently decided to have some fun collecting 3 & 5 screw variants after getting a massive box handed over to me for next to nothing from a co-worker. He was a collector and just decided to stop, and said "Here, take these and give them a good home". I got some nice stuff, but I digress...
While researching, I found that my copy of Stinger is a 3 screw, and according to many forums, is doesn't exist. Has this myth been debunked yet, or do I have something quite rare?
I'm still trying to figure out the whole "image" thing on here, but I do have a pic of my game to share if someone wants to see and could give some pro tips on how to add them.
Thanks!

go to my home>images>new images and then just click the image from the file location on your computer. Once it is uploaded into your images, click the "opt" next to the pic and copy paste the IMG link to your post and it will appear.

Sorry, one more. Here's the label. I see nothing about PAL or any other format. It works on my FC Twin just fine. Thanks again for any info anyone can provide!

Holy shitballs...it exists!

But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

So did that come in a hangtab box or not? I'm assuming it was probably pieced together, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any confirmed non-hangtab boxes either (which would be why a 3 screw cart was presumed to not exist). I'm still kinda dumbfounded here though...first the 5 screw Stadium Events, and now this...

What does the yellow sticker in the corner say? When I try to zoom it gets fuzzy. If its a "World class service" sticker its likely a refurb cart. Pretty cool never the less. You plan to sell it?

It's not a sticker, it's on every cart.  It's basically the seal of quality a second time.

WOW, this is turning out to be quite interesting! Thanks for all of the feedback, everyone! Yes, it is the same label and box as pictured here at NA. The box was a hang-tab style (arrived unperforated, unfortunately...) with the same UPC, etc. as pictured on the game page. Here are pics of the PCB. I hope they can continue to shed light on the subject, as I know little about the ins & outs of the boards themselves. This was an eBay purchase within the past 4 months, and this is how it arrived CIB.

I hadn't said anything, but since this beast popped up, I'm going to break my vow of silence. Already told Bee Kay.

I have been offered a 3 screw Stinger once before on this forum, and I believe it was this past year. They never gave me any pictures, I didn't feel it was my place to say anything (especially with no real proof), and they ended up telling me they sold to someone else after they got an offer from me.

So, I have kinda been waiting for this....

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

It was an eBay purchase. I'm going to try to dig through feedback and refresh my memory. It was toward the beginning of my box fetish mid summer. I don't think there were even pics, and I got it for next to nothing, especially considering the CIB price on price charting. The box is a bit rough, and one of the tabs is ripped off, with visible damage to the side label.

From my co-worker, I got a few dupes of games like Metroid, Mario, Rad Racer, etc. (and a few gems, TMNT Tourney, Battle Toads/Double Dragon, Mega Man 5) and I was going to see the extras off in trade, but decided it was cool since nearly all were the opposite of what I had (He gave me a 5 screw, I had a 3, etc.). If I had not received the duplicates from him, I would have never shown interest in screw variations, and I would have never Googled a list. I decided to go through the boxed games to double check (since I couldn't do a quick visual scan like loose carts), and sure enough, I opened Stinger to find this. Then the search began...

So, do you think it's legit? Thanks again everyone!

Go figure. I've looked at every Stinger listing for a while now and was like, "You got be kidding me! How'd I miss that?"

That's pretty sweet! I have a really nice Stinger box and manual that's available that are basically NM except for a small crease at the bottom of the box. The hangtab is unpunched though.

Does your box say Rev-A anywhere? Guessing no if it's a hangtab.

That's awesome man! I a few years back I bought what I thought would be a 3-screw Stinger but it ended being 5-screw. I'm excited for you man... a truly rare find.

Thanks for the clarification, I was a little lost.

It looks like the real deal!

You could probably get a high dollar amount if you auctioned it here.

So the box has a cardboard hangtab but it's a 3-screw cartridge, I thought all cardboard hangtab releases were 5-screw?

Thanks for your comments everyone. The game has officially been traded to another user, and it has found it's proper home. I hope in a few weeks we can put to rest the 5 screw only myth on Stinger, and ammend the 3/5 Screw Variant list. There have to be more out there if I had one, so happy hunting!!
