Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  The Winter Tournament is fast approaching as we continue through our final block of games, so let’s keep those scores coming.  This week’s game is going to be the final Beat ‘Em Up for 2015 and will be Ikari Warriors 3.  Here are the rules:

  • 1 player only
  • Play until Game Over
  • Take your picture when you get the option to continue your game
  • If you beat the final boss, make sure to hit select as soon as the final boss goes down cause you won't have another chance to take a picture of your score.
  • Highest score wins
  • GENRE: Beat ‘Em Up

The contest ends Sunday, 11/22/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

For anyone that beats the game, you need to hit select to get your score as soon as the final boss goes down because you can't see it again once the ending starts.

I'm not sure how much more time I'll have to play this week, so my current score might be all that I have time for.

This is a pretty fun game, and it's very generous with extra lives.

No, you play until you have the option to continue.  Your score will be on the screen so you can take your picture.

The game is really generous with the health power ups as well. It's like SNK intended it to be played as a two player co-op game and they just left the same power ups in the one player mode instead of changing it.

I'm actually more jealous of the TV stand! Where did you find that?

That is neat, I don't remember seeing one of those when I was a kid. I did have some kind of wooden Nintendo storage chest though that had similar looking Mario and Zelda artwork on it where I kept my Nintendo Powers. I found the storage chest last year when I was helping my Mom clean out her basement, but my Nintendo Powers were nowhere to be found. When I asked where they were, she said "Oh, I threw those out a long time ago". I had a subscription from issue #1 through the time the N64 came out, so I must've had about 7-8 years worth of them in that box.

There was one kid in my neighborhood that had his room decked out with all the nintendo gear. He had the desk, the tv stand, and one of the really big 4ft Nintendo watches on his wall. At the time, I thought it was actually lame!

I had a friend like that too. He had the Super Mario sheets on his bed, Nintendo chairs, Nintendo stickers all over his TV along with Nintendo and WWF posters all over his walls. That would make for a heck of a game room nowadays!

Nice job. I knew there was more to squeeze out of it, but most of what I missed were those synchronized spin-kicking guys, and I wasn't in the mood to chase a bunch of them around.

Yeah, it gets old quick. Luckily, the enemy placement is always the same, so that helps.
