I'll put forth an honest effort, but I didn't grow up in Dr. Mario (like I did with Tetris)...so we'll see if I'm able to hold my own, or not.

Ok well I went and looked up the rules at Twin Galaxies, and they have 3 sets of rules, 1 for each speed.

1 Life, Hi Speed, Any Music, virus Level May Be Freely Chosen

I would use these rules, but with no restriction on speed, since the higher the speed the higher the points.

Looks good but I would change it to any speed if it was me.  Also, I would require a photo for proof.  No game genies allowed.  But thats up to you.

Yes we do. I played a little earlier in the evening and only got 54,000

I think I'm getting the hang of stacking multiple kills for bonus points. It took me a few levels to really figure out the scoring at all.


Question: with the goal of getting the highest possible score, is there ANY reason to not start at the lowest possible level, resulting in the longest possible game?

Yeah I only got 48k so far. I cant touch that score.

you have to listen to Chill music while playing that's the trick

I've always preferred the chill also. Chill is about a 1:30 loop so it's far less repetitive. Fever is only like 45 seconds before the track repeats. Chill breaks down and gets a little bit funky. Can't help but love that.

yeah, we are starting at level 1..

Yeah, I played a second game last night with Fever and did HORRIBLY

Gave Dr. Mario 10 tries in a row today, most likely this is all I'll play of it, no matter how much I were to play I really wouldn't ever get very good at it, not a quick enough thinker and I tend to always put the colors reversed of what I'm supposed to when things get to piling up too high. Anyway, of my 10 games, my best was 27.300 points, got to level 5, speed on high. Of all game genres, these kind are my weakest link, but somehow I do think I do pretty okay at Yoshi and Yoshi's Cookie, at least I can last a lot longer in those two games than all the rest of these falling block games.
