Oh, and someone asked what holders to use.

The battery holder part is S8421-45R. It can be found here:

Hey OP, great service, I do this for all my games too. I have actually found a holder that fits original gameboy CR1616 holder (still haven't found a CR2025 holder that fits). If you are interested let me know and I can send pics/links to what I have used.

I broke two battery holders last time I replaced a game cart battery. (the wide metal brass pin on the plus side becomes very brittle after bending it down - maybe heating it first would make it more pliable and less prone to breakage?)

Gonna probably just use the OP's service if I run out of parts in the future, or for Game Boy games.

Yep all the latest batches of holders are 50/50.  Its all in the technique used to bend it.  Gentle and slow and it wont weaken, I assure you. :-). The original ones I bought years ago were solid as could be.  if I bend one of these and its looks like the bend point is weak, I cover it in a layer of solder so its solid again.  Takes extra effort but in the end I dont want a customer messaging me in a few years when they go to replace the battery and the holder snaps off.  I offer a lifetime guarantee on battery holder and install but nobody wants to spend extra $ and time shipping back and forth again :-P

Just noticed this.  These are way over priced.  @ Mouser you have to buy 100 to get the 75 cent range.  I can buy them locally @ 50+ for 76 cents. Sof if anyone that does their own battery replacements wants to go in on an order next time around Maybe we can get a few more eople and hit the 50 cent price mark

Sir yes sir captain sir! The holders fit perfectly.  Alot of N64 do not use battery backed saves though.  There is a list out there of the ones that do and im pretty sure its less then 20-30 titles. Ill see if I can find it for you

Here is one...

http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo...

Scroll to section 3.  It says Battery next to the ones that are battery backed saves.

Was this directed to me? It appears to be out of context and I don't understand.

Yes, it was. To me, it was well worth the price. If they're overpriced, please feel free to share somewhere else online that has a better deal.

You said the mouser price was way overpriced, and that they are cheaper by your house. That may be...I was just saying that even at a buck a piece, it was well worth it to me.

Book marking, I hope you keep this service going awhile. I have a lot of games but no time to go through each that have a battery, definitely could see me using this service quite aggressively

Couldn't find any info in regards to if you also will do GBA games? I have a copy of Castlevania: HoD incoming next month that needs a new battery. Also, what would the cost be for someone in Canada? Thanks much!

just out of curiosity. I have some of these holders and just to see how they worked i put one in an extra adventure of link. I noticed when putting it back together, i had to cut a post inside the cart to get it to fit, and the holder was situated just about as far over as it could be. But im wondering if you experienced this as well.

Some NES carts yes, depends on the type of board it uses.
