Found another proto out there.

Pyramids of Ra on Ebay.

-------------------------

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

Why is there a Game Boy cart in some of the pictures??? It looks like it might be a demo copy??? The label says return to some video store....
Calling MrMark. Tomfoolery perhaps?

Calling MrMark.

I saw that too, but it's Matchbox Video, for what it's worth...

99% chance it's fake.

http://www.nintendoage.com/index....

It tries to copy the label of the one in the database, but does so too well. In both, there is supposed to be an additional word after "video" after matchbox, but it's been smudged out.

The database has one piece of scotch tape, the auction has at least 2.

Someone has attempted to pass this one off as the real thing before, but unfortunately it's likely a fake. I only say likely and 99% as there is a very, very slim chance this is the exact one from the database, but I personally would avoid this like the plague.

Aren't those security screws in it too? I thought prototypes had regular screws in them instead?

No, it depends entirely on the prototype.  Security screws, flat head screws, I've had boards where the screw holes have been melted together with a soldering iron or filled with epoxy so that they could not be opened.  The screws do not indicate whether it is legit or not.

No it is fake, I have the "real" one. Opening the PCB is a dead giveaway so you can bet he's not doing it. It's going to have EPROMS because someone "made" it.

There you go folks.  If Dream says a proto is fake, that's all you need to know.

Gonna leave this thread unlocked so that buyers can beware.

I contacted the seller asking a series of questions. I asked if the auction was for two protos or one. I asked if they worked, and I asked for a picture of the PCB. He told me that it was only for the NES proto, but didn't answer my other questions. I wrote him back to reiterate my other questions and haven't heard from him. Someone who wont even tell you if their "prototype" works is kind of shady.

Already said he was lying. I have the only known prototype. I bought it from MIke Etler so if you want the "real" one, make me an offer.

Would love to see a few pics of it and I know you said he was lying I thought I'd add in what the seller said for a laugh . Not sure what it's worth to make you an offer

It looks like the one you see on ebay, cept my label is real. I am sure it is pictured on The Warp Zone.

Hard to put a value on something where only 1 exists, lol

So I took a gamble on this one and ended up winning it. I had dealt with this seller before and purchased a semi rare game (Atari 7800 Battle Tanks was the last one I need to complete my 7800 collection). The seller offers a 2 week return policy to so worse case I am spending $8 on shipping back and forth and a possible ebay claim hassle. I also sent him a message explaining that if it is not real and is a reproduction, I will be returning it. I am waiting for a response before I make payment. I look forward to receiving this and opening it and posting the pictures of the board. I do respect Dreams word but it is certainly possible another copy of this game exist whether or not it is from Mike Etler or not? Internet saus Mike Etler had 2 copies? Dream is the copy shown in the NA database a picture of yours? If so the label does look suspect with the writing missing after video on both. It could be the protos had photocopies with damage to the source? The label on this one is the opposite direction of the ones on the internet.
So basically if this is legit, and 1 of 2 copies known to exist, it is worth a lot more than the $170 that it just cost me. My fingers are crossed

DO NOT PAY FOR IT, IT IS A 100% FAKE PROTOTYPE!!!

Jason sold a reproduction of this prototype with the exact label as the one in the auction. There is a 0% chance pf this being legit and the seller is going to take your money and plead ignorance.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will be contacting him to void the auction. I will wait for his reply just to see what he says

Two additional points of reference to help you make the choice to void the transaction: http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/...

Again, trust me, voiding it is definitely the right thing to do.
