Lets migrate all the SNES classic discussion to this thread,  and let the other two die (unless something relevant to those specific topics).

Didn't even bother to try. I like the idea, and including Star Fox 2 is a great idea. I think collecting all the classics that they have in one package is a great idea, and the game selection of the SNES classic is way closer to my idea of 'perfect' than the NES classic was.

That said, I must be one of those 'original hardware snobs' because I just couldn't enjoy playing these games this way. I tried with the NES classic and just hated it. However, for the less hardcore, it is a great deal. I just don't feel like waiting in line or paying scalper prices to secure one. Plus I don't know if I believe Nintendo even is increasing their supply this go around. I'm one of those conspiracy theorists.

It's still 24 hours to go for the wait...here in the Midwest, I'll update my progress then.

even though a friend secured a preordered one for me at our local GS, I was gonna go super early to try to get another one (been forever since I did a release thing with as much hype as this (I think the last one was for San Andreas lol) but I have to work that morning :/

half tempted to tell my boss I'm gonna be late, but eh, I'll see if I can spot one in the wild over the weekend (not likely I'm sure)

Aww you killed my thread before I could jump in there and gloat about being right.

Releases Friday morning here, I'll head over to Toys R Us for 10am (when they open) and hope for the best.

I will not be able to go camp out, but hopefully I can find one later in the day or as they get more shipments.  

Sounds like numbers are a lot higher than I thought they would be, but I still don't see these sitting on shelves for days. Crazy that some stores are apparently getting hundreds of units for walk-ins compared to the 5-10 NES CEs they recieved. I work 7-7pm today and would be pleased to see some on the shelf when I go to get my pre-order. Don't forget to check online later today/tomorrow too. They usually open more sales throughout the morning for a lot of sites on release day.

Im here just to add I could not give less of a fuck about the SNES classic  

I've asked some friends around the US who made calls and I'm seeing some common figures. Stores like Target, Walmart and Best Buy are getting a range of as low as 20 to over 100 per store based upon general video game selling traffic and total stores in the general area. Toys R Us ran a national print ad saying IN STORE FRIDAY and next to that guaranteed 50+ per store.

It seems to me that Reggie was honest about not needing to pay a crook scalper more than MSRP and that they both were putting out as many as the last system sold during its first shot at life up front, but that they'll not stop them as 2017 ends but well into 2018 (probably up to if not after the NES comes back.)

I think a little effort in just picking some store and going there should get you one if you show up a little bit before the doors open or that store chooses to hand out numbers in a line or whatever. I think Nintendo learned a lesson in marketing with the NES. Not that people would be so-so about it much like those bug ridden at games sega units, but that not making enough has far reaching negative consequences for screwing interested people out of what they feel they deserve to buy off the shelf. People get mad and mad goes beyond one thing. If they felt it could hurt selling one more 3DS, Switch, or games on either, they'd rather eat it putting out more closed off SNES systems than doing collateral damage elsewhere.

I'm still on the fence whether or not I want to get one of these.  Aside from Star Fox 2 I've got all the games already, so this is more of a novelty/collectible for me.  I might just try to pick one up to give as a gift, or to sell at MSRP here on NA.  Guess I will make my final decision tomorrow morning.  If I do I will probably go to my local Walmart when they open at 6AM and try there.  Brickseek is showing around 40 units available.

 

I was able to order one when they went up online originally. Glad that early reports are saying there are going to be plenty.

Trying to find inventory on Brick Seek and cant figure out the UPC for the US. Anyone have it handy?

Just called my local GS. They said 12 were pre-ordered, and 24 will be in store for first come, first serve... so defiantly more than the NES classic (I think they had 11 or 12), but not substantially more.
