Hi, I signed up only for this: I accidentally damaged my GBA SP a few times. The final time I superglued it, I misaligned the screen connector. Now it only shows a white screen & sound. I'm looking for someone to repair it cause not only am I a klutz, I suck at hardware.

Thank you.

i could fix it but imo i think it would be cheaper to just get a working used one off ebay. then spening money to ship it both ways and repairs

Thank you for the suggestions. I want to get this one fixed because I got it from a good friend of mine and I feel absolutely awful breaking it.

Is it a GBA SP AGS-101? It might be worth it. If it's an AGS-001 then just buy another and swap the insides.

How can I tell which is which? I've searched but the only way to tell is by the screen which is inactive.

Here's a link both front and back. I tried to scan it with the console on, but to no avail.

Looks like your label is missing. When it worked, was it possible to turn the light off or just dim it? AGS-101 will let you dim but not turn the light off. AGS-001 turns completely off so you can play under bright lights.

It turns on to full bright white, then it dims itself and stays like that, despite hitting the backlight button

EDIT: Yep, unless it's not charged all the way (charging now), it's a 001.

CZroe is on point. If the brightness button turns off the light, it's a 001 and isn't worth the trouble. You can also post a photo of the cart connector side of the board to verify the model.

It's 100% a power issue, if not something else in addition. I believe the power line to the LCD is one of the most outer wires in the ribbon.

Possibilities:
Blown regulator, which can happen because of a maligned ribbon cable or bad battery/charger. This means the mainboard is toast.
Damaged ribbon. This means the LCD module is toast. You'll have to take everything apart and play with the cable while the power is on to test.
Bad battery. Easy fix
Bad game cartridge (believe it or not). Easy fix, change the game.
Water/humidity damage. It's only worth saving the LCD in the case, and only if it's a 101. There are little square stickers inside the unit that change color with water damage.

Also, bravo to Phynn for putting together a list of names.
