Aw man, I'm sorry to hear about the dude bailin' on ya. I had a guy screw me over on my roof, he said he'd do it one way and did it totally wrong instead and we've been having problems with our roof. One night shingles were flying off in high winds, I tried calling him and he wouldn't answer (I already paid him in full also) >:/ never again...
