updated score...and yeah, it's not worth it but on stage 3 you can milk the tanks for some points but I don't know how long it last (maybe once or twice after you shoot out some of the spray guns).

I think I may have gotten the tank figured out but it didn't help me here. Ugh. And although risky,I spammed the annoying helicopter a few times for points before unloading all my hostages. And the laser turrets are worth 3k each.

Damn!  Looks like I upped the ante too early

FYI it is not "spamming" the helicopter.  There definitely seem to be a finite number of them that show up, since after you kill a few you can drop off troops unharrassed.

EDIT:  also, I "found" an extra 700 pts or so on the first level.   I can't tell what they are coming from, but previously when I killed everything I scored just over 60k.  Now I have seen as much as 61,500+.

2nd EDIT:  do you have a count on how many helicopters you think you spammed?  I don't think I've seen more than 5 spawn in that particular location, but I must have missed something because after I cocked up the last level I spoofed what would have been a seemingly perfect run and only ended up with 517k rather than 521k, including killing the laser cannons.  Curious where the 5k deficit could come from, since I'm pretty sure I'm killing all other aircraft that appear to respawn but actually only have 4 - 5 attack waves. (airplanes in Level 5, for instance)

Wow, you guys are really on it this week! Great scores, gang!

So one thing I've found out this week is that Jackal really wrecks my left thumb, more than any other game I've played in quite some time. Anyone else have an aching thumb?

I haven't posted a score yet but my best so far is just shy of 450K. I could definitely no-death this (at least up to the final boss) but I keep making stupid mistakes. I'm not sure how much time I'll have left to play this week but I might be able to get another attempt or two in before I post my score.

Nevermind... was going to ask the judges to weigh in on grinding, but I think even the tanks on Boss 3 run out, eventually (like the set attack waves of aircraft)

I don't want to be the one to find out lol...I know it probably goes on for awhile but seems tedious.

I'm testing it, and I will report back.

If it is grindable indefinitely, use should probably be restricted, since it is "relatively safe" compared to the challenge of otherwise perfect execution to break the 500k mark.

EDIT to ADD:  maybe somebody else can get more to spawn, but I don't think I've seen more than 6 tanks show up on that boss.  If that is the case, I'd say they are fair game.

If there is a method for unlimited tanks, though, and you find it, do the decent thing and point it out the judges so they can weigh in.

score updated

Sorry for the huge ass picture, but I'm doing what I can with my tablet. I might give this another go while I'm taking the TGV this Sunday.

AFAIR, the tanks in boss 3 are limited, but I haven't tested it extensively lately.

Played this game a few times. Pretty fun, but I have not been able to defeat the second boss.

You need to get right up against the wall and shoot them in the fade with your missiles or grenades.  3 hits each.

It is confirmed, you can grind the tanks infinitely at the stage 3 boss. I stayed in this exact spot for roughly 25 minutes. At this position the tank's bullets will go just below your vehicle and you will not get hit. The second picture is my score after completion. It was one of my worst games, but then again I played sort of careless since the score doesn't count plus I'm pretty tired.

Anyway, back to the tanks at the boss of stage 3....only one tank comes out at a time, but at 500 points each it does accumulate faster than you'd think. I can't remember exactly how many points I had going into this battle, but I know it was in the 180Kish range. So yeah....you can grind. And it probably should be disallowed but I'll leave that up to the judges.

Yeah Guts, no grinding at the 3rd boss, otherwise it completely ruined all the point mechanic of the whole game.

Everyone is expected to simply go through 3rd boss without intentionally waiting for more tanks to come over.

It is a bit disappointing that you can grind somewhere in the game, cause otherwise, the point possibilities system is pretty solid and original.

And the vacation is wonderful so far (1 week left)
I'm currently exploring the Alsacian wines road and it is very cool, all tasting is absolutely free and the guys really want to show you everything, you have fun tasting and get drun quickly eventually, héhé.

Given the programmers attention to detail with no score tanks on other bosses it is pretty disappointing that they slipped up on Level 3.

If you completely exclude tanks on the battleship, I don't think it is possible to exceed 516k as a raw score (I had tested a "perfect" run in an emulator earlier in the week)
it may not be possible to exceed 512k, as a raw score, but I am less confident about that number.

Yeah,it's pretty weird that they missed that one. Although not intentional,I feel like I killed too many tanks there so I'm going to scrap my current score and retry killing as few tanks as possible.

I never even noticed that the tanks on the Stage 3 boss gave 500 pts. a piece until I re-read this topic last night. That's a real bummer and kind of deflated my motivation to try and top my previous score.

Still been plugging away at this game when I can. I've been screwing the pooch a lot recently and dying with a full load of POW's. I have however managed a Stage 1 final score of 61,800 and to be honest I have no idea where some of those points came from.

Been playing some today. I'm super frustrated as I've started 3 games and each one I died on stage 3 because I drove into a bullet that one of those douchebag soldiers just so happened to fire off screen. Lovely.

Updated my score post, game completed with a score of 473760 + 5000 (5 lives left) = 478760. I know I missed some stuff but not that much, seriously how do you break 500K?

Probably my final score for this since this game has really worn down my left thumb.

You can't die until the final boss.

i made a post earlier about where you see the impact of dying.  But to summarize, there are multiple stages where the enemy count is different if you died previously, either on a different stage or even during a stage (for instance if you die early in the last level you miss out on numerous helicopters and spread guns)

also, so, it is critical to kill every single pass of every aircraft type.  My earliest assessment about a repeating wave was wrong.  There are a set number of waves, and you need to kill them all for maximum score.

Ok so i had a no death run until the final boss got killed twice by that dick!  man when you have the full missle the range of his bullets extend.  Then when you die and go back to grenade the bullets shorten up.  Really cool programmingin in this one.

Anyhoo i literally scoured the game and killed every boat, tank and soldier there is.  I counted 3 planes i missed throughout the game 2 on stage 5 and 1 on stage 6.  The only other points i missed was i didnt kill the gun on top of the tank on the last boss.  Other than that i literaly got everything, every guy i returned to the heli and everything else was shot.  I am not sure what the gun is but i would say absolute perfect run of this game would maybe be 510,000 depending on how much that tank gun is worth.

I killed 4 tanks on the level 3 boss, i would expect someone who can clear 500k could beat taht boss with about 4-6 tanks killed tops

Anyhoo love this game so much man!
