I followed it to beat the game and managed to get that score. I am sure you will beat my score easily if you do, as you got all the 50K bonus at the end of the stages.  
 

I wonder if bert could get close to Tom's record with the help of the strategy guide. He's already able to get all the bonuses which is impressive in itself.

I hope he does. It would be awesome.
I will be giving it another try myself once the pain killers kick in, but I am not sure I will even be able to match my own score.
Happy not pregnant day for me... I wish those red days were far less painful.

Updated my score. But still only got a 79 GDV. That is weird as heck. I collected every secret in the game.
Maybe you have to warp back to stage 6 on stage 11 in order to do stages 8 and 9, but that would disqualify your score here. I really don't know, and all I want right now is my trusty hot water bottle and lots of chocolate.

I will, but not tonight. Right now it is time to eat massive amounts of chocolate and lay down with my trusty hot water bottle so I can survive the night.

Too many red bottles or mighty coins will send you there. And there's a secret room in level 4 that leads to a torture room.

BTW, with some extreme (but well within the rules) point racking, it's possible to have over 400k by the beginning of level 3 and over a million by level 6. Even then I couldn't do any better than what I did.

Did some quick memory sniffing. No clue as of yet of where the GDV is being stored.
I guess tomorrow I will have to record the inputs of a full play through and step debug it at the parts where important items are picked.
It also might be that the bonus multipliers at the end room play a part on it. I never got too many of those, and they are supposed to go up to 5x.

Yeah, I liked to point rack by burning lives and replaying level 2, and you can keep increasing the bonus multiplier until each lit bomb is worth 1,000 points.

Well, I'm out of time. I started again, and beat level 7 when I realized I needed to get the crystal ball. Oh well. Adding this to the list of games to go through after the tournament.

Well, I have found that the amount of bombs you collect is stored at ram address 0356, and when this variable reaches 20, the p ball will spawn.
This info will be useful to figure out the rest of this madness. But enough debugging for the night.

Definitely. Game takes a fair bit of time to beat. Around 2 or so hours, at least.
But with the current score and standings, if my calculations are correct, you will be ending first at action/platformer with 37 points. I'd need mbd39 to beat Brock's score, pushing him one position down so I could end third tied with Brock and Skinny at 35 points.
The final standings will be interesting.
