I'm new here, as you might have noticed, and enjoying it so far. Although I am from the good ol' USA, I live in China and have been enjoying combing through the gray market 8-bit stuff here, so I decided to offer up a little sample to see what the interest might be like from NA. Before I go any further, although I'm new here, I've been on eBay since 1999 with about 200 positive feedback. Check it out here. Okay, so... on to the description. Sonic got lost and wandered into a Famicom cartridge. That's pretty much it. Although the label reads "Sonic 5," this is a port of Sonic 1 and is a totally original Chinese game. It basically features everything Sonic is supposed to have, though rearranged a little. The first level is Spring Yard Zone and the second one is Labyrinth Zone and I haven't played far enough to know what's after that. Green Hill Zone, the first level from the Genesis game, runs as a demo if you let the game sit at the title screen. The controls are a little funky and the level design seems simplified. This isn't a great game, but it could be worse. And it's cool to see Sonic on the NES.

I should note that although they're still making new Famicom carts in China (like the Final Fantasy and Zelda ones that have been showing up on eBay), this isn't one of them. You have to comb through piles of old crap in flea markets to find this stuff.

I have about 20 carts like this and whether I wanna get rid of em depends partly how this auction goes. I have carts with Street Fighter II, Fatal Fury, Boogerman, Aladdin, a really weird Contra game, and stuff like that. If there's interest, maybe I can make a sales list? I was thinking of maybe posting one at auction each week. As long as there is interest, I can keep up the auctions.

I would bet it vary depending on the title. It probably wouldn't hurt making a post up to see which titles people would be interested in... I wouldn't mind taking a peek, although I can almost bet I would not be participating in the auction.

That Green Hill shot almost gave me the impression you finally found the fabled original Sonic the Hedgehog for Famicom. Still wondering if that exists, since it's been proven before that Somari didn't come first.

I don't think I've actually seen any "new" Famicom games for awhile. That Zelda and FF7 and all that stuff from Shenzhen Nanjing were made at least ~ 5 years ago now, if the dates on the side of the cases are anything to go by. Anyway I've tried selling this sorta stuff here before, but I learned that this is purely an NES community heh.

Hey thanks. How would the original Sonic the Hedgehog be different? Following the order of the original levels? It seems like this one must have a Green Hill level, just later in the game... but somebody would have to play through it to find out.

I'm sure it is just a couple of levels/zones before it ends the game.... anyway to confirm this?

Well, if somebody wanted to play through the rom, there is one available that seems to be the same game. The version of the rom I have is called "Sonic 3D Blast 5." The game does do Green Hill as a demo at the title screen, so I was assuming you could get to it in the game. But I dunno!
