Thoughts?

It's unique. It's sort of an action platformer with beat em up elements where every level is an ice level because you're on roller skates. There's a lot of memorization and trial and error involved. The controls take some getting used to, and the platforming can be a little awkward, but I really enjoy this game. Plus it's got the usual Konami charm with very nice graphics and music by NES standards.

I beat this for the first time the other night. It was a favorite rental when I was a kid, and I played it for the weekly contests in 2016, but even with infinite continues I never beat it until now. I used Hot Flash for the entire playthrough. She's the weakest character but she's also the fastest and seems like the best choice for the platforming especially near the end.

The freeway levels have some of the best music on the NES.

Played through it recently and think it is a very good game. Fun and unique gameplay, great music... I agree with your assessment of it, mbd.

The Rockers are the easiest to play with I thought, they (she?) had the best balance of strength and speed which I found was the easiest to control.

The jumps in the final stage are pretty brutal initially, until you get the feel and memorization down, then it's not so bad to get through.

The platforming in the final stage isn't quite as horrible as I thought it would be. The worst part is the treadmills with the shooting flames near the end of 6-2. '

The game has something like ice physics and is filled with tricky jumps where it's instant death if you make the slightest mistake. It's not that bad to get through it with the infinite continues, but it is pretty challenging to 1cc or no death it. 5-2 is the furthest I've reached without a game over. I would like to 1cc this someday.

Oh, and the final boss is a cheap bastard. I just stand there spamming the attack button hoping to connect, while also moving around trying to avoid his attacks the best I can. I saw a speed runner jump kick him to death but I can't do it... he's too fast.

I wonder how many people realize it's based off a tv show?

I had the same reaction. Never played it, but checked out gameplay video and it looks pretty damn cool. Nice to see something cheap and unknown with real potential.

Great game, I've been meaning to return to it since the last contest. Aghast that it's been 3 years, need to put it at the top of the pile.

I haven't played Rollergames that much, but I thought what I played of it was pretty fun. It's a unique concept at least, and the presentation is fantastic like most Konami games. I actually found the game complete in box for about $15. So, I just had to pick it up. I don't know how expensive it typically is, but it's definitely not one you see very often. I've never seen it in stores before or since that day. Anyway, fun game that's worth at least a try.

I'm not looking to buy or sell anything at the moment. Sorry if I got your hopes up.
This is so sad. Can we get 2 likes?

It's definitely an underrated gem. I have it but haven't played it that much. Maybe it's time to dig it out and play through it.

If you find the arcade game it's even better; plays just like the show

I used to play it when I was a kid, which is exactly why I purchased it as an adult. I kinda hate that it's based on some lame tv show, but I didn't know that when I was young.

I should have tried harder that week. The game isn't as difficult as I thought it was.

I reached 6-2 without continues. Getting closer to a 1cc!

Most annoying parts for me:

Crumbling floors second half of 5-1. This area is short, but it's a real lives sink if you're not careful. And you have to go back to the beginning of 5-1 when you die. Fortunately the first half of 5-1 is extremely easy.

The rafts in 5-2. God, I hate these things. Most awkward platforming in the whole game, IMO.

6-2 and 6-3. Seems impossible at first. Gets much easier with practice. For 6-2 It's actually easier to quickly make the jumps in a row rather than trying to be more cautious.

I've actually pulled off a no-death run in Rollergames. Tough, but doable. Helps that it's a shorter game.
Hardet parts in the game are the moving rafts in 5-2, and the jumps in 6-2 & 6-3.

Good to know. The sprite for Rockers kinda looks like it has long hair, but I've never watched the show before.

I think that I can 1CC or no-death it with more practice. I've now reached 6-2 without continues.

The rafts are probably the worst part of the game. Very clunky platforming there.
