OK, I'm back from my wedding and honeymoon. Hopefully I'll have some spare time for recurring updates from here out. And here we are with one that I really want to share with my fellow NA'ers!

Background: I have I decided that a complete NES set means *everything* and so I have started on a quest of now finding items that are way off the beaten path that I previously just didn't collect: HINT BOOKLETS! So here we have the complete trilogy of the Kemco-Seika point-and-click adventure games for the NES in CIB form plus their elusive hint booklets: Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited. Uninvited's hint book is by far the hardest to find as it required some patience to wait for one to spring up on eBay as this is just about impossible to find anywhere else. I also have Shadowgate Classic and Deja Vu I+II for the Game Boy Color, but they are not pictured. Yes, I am a diehard of this series - so much so that I also have the original MacVentures on disk.

...and to make them more cozy at home, here are their 2 distant cousins by their side: Moon Princess and Peacock King - the English versions and 100% identical in style to the MacVenture's...

Some a lot, others nothing. I do trades, re-sell, and 85% of my acquisitions are actually upgrades so when I play my cards right I often break even. A few however, there's no cheap way to get the item: Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak = $$$.

Fortunately, I need only a few items, but unfortunately updates aren't nearly as often these days because there isn't much to acquire anymore. Well, the good news is that of the items remaining for my collection, I got what I considered to be the hardest-to-find; to top that off, I got it factory sealed. With Koei, I had all the CIB's except Gemfire - never realized it was more difficult to locate than Bandit 2/Romance 2. Then when I started actively looking for it, the game happened to skyrocket in value, not only was a CIB impossible to find for a while, but the price was ridiculously high. There was even a thread about the game's price skyrocketing right here on Nintendoage. Luckily, I jumped on this sealed copy. It's almost perfectly mint and if the seller had said that, I think I'd have been bid out on this. I'll be posting a pic of a complete Koei set this week.

Here is the complete Koei CIB set for NES. I have to replace the Genghis Khan map and box, but otherwise, the set is mint. I have taken great pride in putting this set together - it took many years of patience.

A couple nights ago I found metroid yellow cib in a local store for $15 but I dont have any pics to share. Nonetheless a great find since that one almost never pops up on eBay for les than 60$!

I haven't updated this thread in a while and felt like I should try to be more active with it. So I'll try to update more often. Today I found a stash of cib nes games at a store one hour away on an excursion. I decided to pick a few items up as upgrades to existing copies. So I got Milon's Secret Castle (10$), Guardian Legend (10$), F-15 (7$), and Ferrari ($5) all MINT CIB - I specifically upgraded these 4 due to the old copies having light wear on the boxes. Sadly, they had one other CIB that was mint that I passed on which would have been a helluva upgrade from my existing copy (LOOPZ!) for only $2.50 !!! I was in such a rush I forgot to grab it and I probably won't be back at the store for a very long time. Overall though, I'll easily re-coup my investment by selling the old copies on eBay!!

I am slowly trying to convert some of my unlicensed CIB's into sealed. I have been looking for a sealed Krazy Kreatures for a very long time with no luck. I finally settled on a brand new box which is the next best thing. My existing box has a slight indent on the back. I am also expecting a package next week for a CIB of a game I still need, one that I have been seeking for years. It's one of only less than 5 I still need, so stay tuned for that!

12/10/12 --- finally, after over 3 months, I am able to say I have acquired an item I need for my set! I am upping the ante this month and this one breaks the ice for what's to come. I have waited, waited, waited for a mint Castle of Deceit to come by and finally found one. A shitty game, a shitty company, but some kick ass artwork and one hell of a bitch to find in this condition!

OK, broke the ice and I'm officially on a role now, going for the last few I still need but now focusing on upgrading about 50 titles to mint or sealed! SO last weekend I found a very nice Wrecking Crew and Volleyball CIB for 40$ each. Sold Wrecking since I have a shrink copy and the Volleyball was a very nice upgrade for me. Then earlier this week, I picked up a mint Jaws CIB and Mechanized Attack CIB locally for 10$ apiece. Turns out my Jaws is already mint, so I'll be selling that too. Mechanized was a nice upgrade. I passed on a mint Double Dragon 1 for 25$ but I am going to go back and get it this weekend if they still have it. Then last night, I located a sealed Bo Jackson mint for 12$ and a mint Wrath of the Black Manta for $22. I will have to post a picture of all this glory when I get home from work. Meanwhile, I am now focusing on NES only, so I put aside all other video game ventures. I will be posting some very nice updates for the next 1-2 months if I can keep my new plan in place - selling other stuff to raise spending dough. I will mostly be dealing online from here out since local deals are limited to what I found this past week.

12/14/12 - Anyone who followed this thread early on will be happy to know I am going to be posting new stuff off the hook. Today I received Batman: Return of the Joker. It's one of 30 boxes I still need for a complete licensed and unlicensed set. I've been looking for a mint copy for quite a while now. For some reason they're always beat up.

Just got my other package from UPS. I found a seller who had listed a bunch of empty NES boxes for between 5-13 dollars each. I was early into the game but not early enough to snatch the super valuable boxes. I did however get a few mint boxes that I really could use. The Simpsons: Bart Vs. The Space Mutants is an in shrink upgrade from my existing beat up box; Ditto for POW and Shooting Range still in H-seam shrink which is always a plus. The Rambo box, was in fake shrink but it protected it because after removing it I realized how damn mint it is. As for all these boxes, all are upgrades except Rambo, which I still need the box for, which brings my total to under 30.

(edit added a less blurry picture)

Well I am getting sick of driving back to this damn place. I went back today and got Double Dragon 1, too damn nice to let slip away. Not seeing any deals on sealed so minty CIB here I come. Sadly I'll be back next week as I passed as gem mint John Elway and forgot my copy has a ding for 5$.

if anyone followed my post earlier this week about some SNES cib's I found locally, I went back to buy Boogerman and nosferatu. When I looked up close at them, I saw they had rental stickers on the box and cart,, beat up spines, worn labels and no manuals. No thanks, I passed!!

12/17/12 --- Factory sealed: Gyruss, Legendary Wings, Airwolf, Wheel Featuring Vanna, Milon's Secret Castle, Fisher Price I Can Remember, Fisher Price Perfect Fit, and Gotcha! Mint CIB: Lunar Pool, Times of Lore, Incredible Crash Dummies, Bard's Tale, Little League, and Ultimate Basketball. Some of these are dupes that I forgot I had, so looks like I'll be selling a few.

12/24/12 - My "BIG" package is scheduled for Thursday this week, which is one of the biggest buys I've ever made, so stay tuned for that - I was hoping it'd make it today but it didn't. Normally, I only post pics of my new CIB's or factory sealed arrivals. But today I have one extra item to share and 2 nice plugs for 2 nice guys (see below):

First up, an Untouchables alternative-artwork factory sealed from nice guy Gullavoie, the Quebecian master! I have been trying to finish up alt-art variants for a while now, just down to Pac-Man and Flying Warriors now. Perhaps this is the "standard" release and the blue box is alt-art, honestly I don't know, don't care.

Next up, 3 in-shrink titles. Also picked up a Super C CIB, one of the 20 something boxes I needed from the same seller. Kind of a big party pooper since the box isn't mint or anywhere near it (pics had shown otherwise), but I am fine with it because I have a factory sealed on the way that I won the very next day which is mint. Does suck to spend 30 bucks on something I don't need though, but that's part of this hobby and getting to the core of it - buying and selling dupes like this. Also, this is probly the 2nd or 3rd time I've picked up some of these other titles and may not be the last since I have a few of them sealed on the way. Frankly, they're all shitty games, good proof that collectors collect shit sometimes.

Last but not least, an item I really like that has come from NA superseller JoneBone. Adventures of Lolo Strategy Guide. I have been looking for this one for a while!! It's a pretty big guide actually. Makes me wanna play Lolo now! Thanks pal!!

It means a lot to receive nicely packed items from guys in this community, especially items I still need. So a true thank you to Gullavoie and Jone for offering items from your stash.

nice progress! your collection will be one of the top NES CIB/sealed ones in the world when you finish!

FYI, the black Untouchables is the original, the blue is the variant. the blue has -1 in its license code. one uses the movie poster for its artwork and the other is more generic.

Hey Shane, The Uninvited hint book was hard to find, took a while but it actually was from eBay of all places. If I ever find another, I will immediately either let you know or pick it up and sell to you at cost if you'd like.

Tanooki, Moon Princess and Peacock King were Famicom releases and they had been hacked and translated to English, which is how we put together these two repro's. They play very similar to the Kemco-Seika's, but they're not as good. There are some YouTube vid's of gameplay on both if you wanna check it out. We can produce you a copy of either if you were ever interested. And while on the subject, there is at least one other, maybe more, that are of this point-and-click nature - but they have not yet been translated, but if they do I'll be the first to repro it.

PS - those finds were a few months ago, check out my newest post today, hehe
