I'm confused unless you are calling the standard body blows gutters.

 

Ya just body blow = "gutters"

In Punch Out terminology, a "gutter" refers to when you make the opponent raise their guard first and throw a quick body blow before they can drop their gloves back down as opposed to a regular body blow. That's where I got confused.

I think the low 2:30's might be about the best I can do if everything goes right. This was really close to a perfect run for me anyway. I'm really amazed at the people that can get into the 2:20's and below....

Just make sure that you don't worry about the bonus so much that you forget to post times for the actual contest!

 You mean there's more to this game than resetting the first round against Mike Tyson 10 million times?

I've never actually tried for lowest time against any other fighter before this week actually. I'm sure my other times are gonna be pretty weak.

The rules don't say for sure that you can't just go for the fastest Tyson time, but since it's a bonus, I'm guessing that you're supposed to submit times for the actual contest too.

Love this game ... It may very well be my favorite game on the NES. I remember playing this game in middle school and the first night i had the game my dad came over to bring it for me and i played the game with him and my sister. they both beat glass joe and i couldnt beat him the first night i had the game. later that year when i beat mike tyson for the first time it remains probably my biggest video game accomplishment. I put my run for this contest together on the first playthrough today, i havent played this game in a while. I am sure i could have shaved some seconds off a couple fights and i know i can knock tyson out but i am not sure i will have more time this weekend to get in the zone with this game.


on a side note... does anyone know what the headline on the newspaper after you beat macho man means where it says "daddy come home"


Pro Tip :
when fighting bald bull in the major circuit watch the lower right corner of the crowd when he bull charges and a photo flash goes off when you need to throw the punch to hit him

I put up my preliminary overall score. I'll do a final update tomorrow night hopefully. I hope to shave at least another minute off my time between King Hippo and Super Macho Man... and I'm not done with Tyson either .
