I have an N64 Spiderman Box that is the prototype version. I also have a SNES Mech Warrior Proto Box.

Are these worth anything?

I know buyatari has a bunch of prototype boxes that he tried to unload but I've noticed none of the unpopular titles sell. I would definitely be interested in something like this(spider-man) but I'd have no idea idea what to offer.

How does a proto box differ from a display box? Were proto boxes only designed for the publishers to examine?

As far as I understand, display boxes will say for display only on them, but I am not 100%. Also this box is thicker stock than your normal n64 box

Etler has a "prototype" Glover box as well, but these things are very niche. I wouldn't mind owning one for the "cool" factor, but it's not something that I'm dying to own either. If I had to guess as to worth, maybe in the $40-$50 ballpark.
