Don't know if I'll be able to "keep" any of this yet but I just got back from the flea market with this... Definitely NOT an April Fools joke

Nope. This was literally just minutes ago and I'm kinda scared to contaminate my work area with whatever it might be. Kinda disappointed that my only PAL game is missing a chunk of the PCB (obviously can't work).

Next step is to contact the police, I guess, unless anyone has a better idea. Then again, I don't even know what it is yet. Not sure if it's safe to open but I might open one shortly. I don't want to be found in posession of anything that would need to be smuggled like this appears to have been but seeing what it is first should be legal.

Police are probably going to want to keep all that. The flea market vendor is a friend so I hope reporting it doesn't cause any problems for him. He obviously doesn't know what is in them either. Before buying them I pointed out the suspicious weight and asked the vendor for a gamebit. He started looking for one but couldn't find it immediately. His search was clearly disrupting everyone else behind the counter so I called it off and just paid him for them, promising to tell him what I found inside.

It totalled $7 so I gave him $10 expecting $3 back, but he returned a $5. I asked if that was a deliberate discount and he confirmed.

At first we were thinking it'd be something like a Famicom adapter but then we noticed that they were 3-screw as opposed to 5-screw. All Famicom adapters are 5-screw. Then we thought it could be money or anything else.

This is why we were bemoaning the current date when we discovered it.   If it's any comfort, acknowledging that it's not an April Fools joke to convince you would also kill any humor if I were lying. I came right out with that so I'm definitely not doing it for the lulz.

No shit, might as well said he found "Stadium Events" with the amount of blow you could conceal in an NES cart.

I knew something was strange with both of them which is the only reason I bought Golf (already have multiples of that title). I probably would've bought Roller Games anyway just because I don't have any other PAL games and it was cool to find one in the wild here. When I first picked it up I thought that maybe some PAL regions had shielding or something extra inside but I'm sure I would've heard of that if it were true. Also, I've seen a ridiculous amount of BootGod profiles for PAL games. I knew I'd find something crazy inside but I was thinking along the lines of money, a proto board, a warranty repair that uses a 60-72 pin adapter, or something. Not this.

Of course, I've heard of stranger things being found inside:

I figure NES carts are even more useful for smugglers since they have a tamper-resistant screw and a lot more empty space inside.

First you put the game on a scale that looks like it was designed for drugs. Then, you wonder if someone tried to smuggle something in here. And you're filming. So either you're a drug dealer or this is April first...

I bought it so I could track ink levels after I reset the chips.

A truly empty Epson T58 80ml cart should be 60g without ink but there are about 15ml left when the chips says 0%. You have to reset before ~30% or the chip resetter will fail. To use that last 15ml, you have to reset early.

It wouldn't be my first time. Wouldn't be the first time it proved to be prudent either.   Heck, I recorded myself opening a "not working" Crossed Sowrds for Neo Geo AES the other day but I deleted it because everything was in order (label didn't look right) and the game even worked fine. Still made a pick-up gallery out of it though:
https://imgur.com/a/7EqEd...

If you KNEW that it weighed more than it should and that people might not believe you because of the date, wouldn't you try to record/document as best as you could? I knew that there was something particularly out of the ordinary about these. It's why I bought them. I'm also hyper-aware of what has happened in the past. People have found drugs, money, and even spiders inside games. I've even found prototypes. Recorded that too:

 [Edit: bungled the link before]

Pretty lame if the "joke" is telling you that it's not a joke just to get you to believe it.

Assuming this isn't some lame ass April Fools joke, do NOT open those packets (even with gloves). If that's carfentanil, just getting it on your skin will make you very sick and would very likely kill you.
