Wizards & Warriors 1 completed. Its weird to have beaten both the 2nd and the 3rd installment but never even tried the original, when thats often deemed as the best one. I liked it, although it felt like the later games was more ambitous and complex. Wizards & Warrrors 3 for example has a quite open worlds and different characters. This one never felt as large. Due to unlimited continues its a lot easier to push through. The last boss, the wizard, is easily the worst part of the game. He keeps teleporting around and its hard getting enough hits in. These games are a bit clumsy when it comes to attacking and taking damage. Its very uneven, you can jump into enemies and lose half your lifebar... while other times not taking damage at all. I would impressed if anyone understands it completely.
I would say the two successing games are better, but its a good game. On to Fabio and Ironsword next.
I like Ironsword more too. People seem to like W&W, but not many people consider it their one of their top favorites, probably because of the things you mentioned (the easy difficulty and strange hit detection).
My impression is most people like the first W&W best too.
Playing Ironsword now. Struggling on the last part of the game. Its a more ambitious game than the first, and better in some ways, but the strange hit detection is even stranger here, sometimes extremely annoying. Enemy flies into you and you just lose the whole lifebar sometimes, no matter what you do. Its a little bit like this in the first as well, but this one is worse. Limited continues makes it harder as well. I have more nostalgia for Ironsword I guess, and I like the levels and bosses. I remember the final battle being quite rough.
