Another sale day, this time at nearby thrift stores lol...also pawn shop score.

Thrift store:

N64 console with power cable - $5 (normal black, no memory pak, just a jumper pak)
N64 gray controller with official rumble pak - $2.50 (tight stick)
N64 black controller - $2.50 (tight stick)
GBA X-Bladez - $3 (CIB, Box damaged/squished on bottom)
Xbox Farcry Instincts - $5 (CIB)
3DS Reel Fishing Paradise 3D - $2.50 (CIB)

Pawn shop:

Everything here was for $30 since the guy just let me guess a price lol..

Super Mario Bros movie DVD
SNES Tetris 2
GBA Advance Wars 2
GBA Fire Emblem
GBA Mega Man Battle Network Blue 3
GBA Mega Man Battle Network Blue Moon 4
GBA F-Zero Maximum Velocity

I also grabbed 3 games I have/read the title wrong so I'll be returning them and anything that doesn't work >.<.

I think the best today was those GBA games. They also had two copies of Pokemon FireRed. One guy bought one even though I told him they were super easy to fake. When I return the games I think I'll ask to open up the 2nd copy to see if it's fake or not...

Oh also forgot a few things...

Online store:

PS1 OverBlood - $8.79 (CIB, cracked case)
PS1 Fifth Element - $9.89 (CIB, cracked case)
PS1 Rising Zan The Samurai Gunman - $8.79 (CIB)
SNES Gradius III - $25 (CIB Minty)

Thrift store:

Sonic the Hedgehog action figure - $3
Sonic the Hedgehog Big the Cat figure - $3
Sonic the Hedgehog Werehog figure - $4

They all move and pose with multiple joints...but they have no makers mark on them or date or anything...really weird.

Snood is similar to Bust a Move. Good game. Played it on the PC way back in my youth, good times were had!

Forgot to post some stuff...been on pain killers after having some minor surgery done. So pretty loopy. I don't remember when I got some of this stuff so...yeah.

Half Price Books:

DS Harvest Moon DS - $10
GB Metroid II - $10
GB Tetris DX - $6
SNES Sim City - $8 (Missing manual)
GC Tetris Worlds - $8 (CIB)
GC Tales of Symphonia - $15 (CIB)

Thrift store:

Xbox Mech Assault - $4 (CIB)
Diddy Kong plush - $4 (Odd thing about this...says nothing about Nintendo on it and only has 1 star on his shirt, also made by BD & A and looking them up they seem to be a company that makes real things...so is it real?)

I haven't been going out much because I'm laid up...but also my computer picks yard sale season to start crapping out on me. So I need to skip the yard sales/pawn shops/thrift stores and focus on saving up for a new pc.

Met up with someone from CL and scored a classic survival horror game and hit a nearby thrift store...I've been good by not spending money so I wanted to treat myself.

CL Deal:

PS1 Silent Hill - $20 (CIB)

Thrift Store:

PS1 The Atari Collection 1 - $3 (CIB)
PS1 Bust-A-Move 2 - $3 (CIB)
PS2 Second Sight - $4 (CIB)
PS2 Van Helsing - $4 (no manual)
PS2 Armored Core 2 - $4 (CIB)
GG Sonic Chaos - $1

Obviously the prize was Silent Hill, been wanting that game for a while now. But I'm happy with the other PS1 games. And I needed Van Helsing as a case upgrade so theres that. It's something at least after not having any finds...

When to my first yard sale in months...wasn't a lot out there, but I had money from selling stuff on ebay so I thought why the hell not go and try to find some games. Finally found someone who had old Nintendo stuff, who didn't live at the place the sale was, so he had to go home and "find them". My experiance with people who do this has been awful...they never call me back...this time though I insisted that I get his number and what do you know he found the games.

Yard Sale #1:

NES console with wires, 2x controllers, zapper gun
Cool blue, yellow and red Nintendo bag

Double Dribble
SMB/Duck Hunt
Super Off Road
Tecmo Bowl
Super Bowl
Airwolf
Super Spike V Ball/World Cup Soccer

All for $35. Nothing amazing, the bag is neat at least. Plus I needed the sports games anyways and they were in good shape. Meh.

Yard Sale #2:

Star Wars Shadows of The Empire N64 box - Free

Didn't have the game or manual so she just gave it to me...funny/irritating thing about this lady, last year I asked her about games, she said she had "tons" so I give her my number...never get a call back. Yesterday we hit up her house and I instantly remember it. I ask her about games and she says "Oh we used to have a whole set of those (the N64) but someone bought them earlier." I really, REALLY wanted to hit her. I would have bought them a year ago...most likely they were CIB...ffs. Ugh...I really wonder what these people do after I give them my number. Do they go on ebay and look up the price of their shit or...do they just forget about me or...what?

It's getting to the point where I feel nothing but depression and rage when it comes to game collecting. Depression because I never find anything good (except for very rare moments) and rage because everyone else seems to be getting finds of a life time.

And I know if I feel like that I should get out of this "hobby" but...I can't because it's not a hobby to me.

I'm just really fucking fed up.

It's just a hobby. It's not worth the extreme emotional reaction. It may seem like lots of people are getting finds of a lifetime but they aren't. Case in point, how many people who post in Find Keepers actually share what price they paid.

Nearly everyone on the front page from what I briefly saw in their threads. Soooooo....moot point?

Woke up early because Value Village had half off of video games and wouldn't you know it...they didn't have jackshit. So I went over to HPB and picked up a few things and hit a Goodwill.

HPB:

PS1 Treasure Planet - $5 (Sealed)
DC Alien Front Online - $4 (CIB but no Mic)
PS2 Ring of Red - $8 (No manual)
PS2 Dark Cloud - $10 (CIB)
PS2 Resident Evil Outbreak - $8 (CIB)

GW:

SNES Road to the Top - $3
SNES Wrestlemaina The Arcade Game - $3

Nothing amazing, happy to finally get a black label version of Dark Cloud and the Resident Evil game. Sort of happy about the SNES games since they were cheaper then on ebay...I never know if it's a good idea to buy the shitty filler games sometimes...usually I don't buy them but since they didn't have a price on them she said $3...meh.

I was going to get a N64 game at HPB but they wanted $10 more then the price on ebay or amazon...I could get it cheaper online even with shipping. They also had Pokemon Crystal there for $40...ebay has it for nearly half that. They really don't want to sell shit with those prices. Half price my ass.

I guess your idea of the deal of a lifetime is different from mine. I tend to notice that those who "score" on uncommon, rare, or valuable stuff tend to play coy when it comes to how much they spent.

IMO it really depends on where you live and the timing of it and of course luck. Like an example from me found two copies on Hot Slots one sealed and one CIB both for $1 each some 2 years ago and I just so happen to be there at the right time and place and I just finished work so there was a perfect storm if you will of events that happen before an epic find. So no worries you will find something of value and more when the time, place, and event come into play. Keep looking and don't give up!

I know don't give up...it's just so fucking easy to get depressed when you never get a "good" score. Or when you keep missing out on good scores...woof.

Well today is my cake day, I sort of did something like last year...I went video game shopping haha...this time though I stayed out of the over priced stores -_-

The only bad thing about today...the first game store had TONS of really good RPGs and semi hard to find games for good prices...but they were all loose...so I just got the cream of the crop, so to speak...the stuff that was worth buying...even loose. Very disapointed though when I found all those lovely games loose...oh plus side...they were all bought for me by my mom as my birthday gift so yay.

Game Store #1:

3DS Pet Zombies - $10 (CIB)
DS Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja - $10
DS Scurge: Hive - $5
DS Game & Watch Collection - $8
DS Dungeon Explorer - $4.50
PSP Wild Arms XF - $6
360 Rage - $4 (CIB)

Game Store #2:

NES Bubble Bobble - $30 (In custom plastic case with manual, manual has been colored in)
PS1 Broken Helix - $9 (CIB)

Pawn Shop:

DS Golden Sun: Dark Dawn - Free (CIB)
DS Super Princess Peach - $17 (CIB)
DS Atari Greatest Hits Vol 1 - $15 (CIB)
PS1 Wild 9 - $9 (CIB)
PS1 Bushido Blade - $15 (CIB)

Yard Sale:

Intellivision Demon Attack
Intellivision Atlantis
Intellivision Sub Hunt
Intellivision Space Armada

All for $2.50.

Thrift Store:

Xbox House of the Dead 3 - $3 (CIB)

I'm fairly sure I over spent on the Bubble Bobble and kinda regret getting it but I wanted one "big" item for today. I'm pretty happy on the DS games, some unusual ones there...even if they are loose >.<.

All in all...it was a good day.

Have you played that one yet? I'm sure once you give it a spin you'll forget about overspending. That has got to be one of the neatest games on the NES, especially if you have a second player.

If it's any consolation, this really has nothing to do with you. I'm sure I've given 10 or more people my phone numbers and not a single time have I gotten a call back (once I did but the guy had not found the games so it didn't matter anyway).

I'm sure they simply forget, or they go to look and find out that there were no games at all - kids sell them without parents knowing, people forget where they are, etc. What you could do is ask them if they would mind taking a minute to go look in the house right now - I've found things once or twice doing that. Often they will be willing if you press the issue a little.

Edit: Holy crap I just looked up the prices on some of these games in the RPG lot...rough worth: $784, jesus fucking christ...

My luck came back today, not all of my luck or I would have gotten a score to end all scores most likely...

This weekend I was pretty sick so my parents went to yard sales and asked for me...they found a few games, nothing great but a few of them sounded interesting and they were super cheap so...

But today I was feeling a lot better so I went out and it was really dry out there. I got a number from some lady who "promised" to call me when she gets into her storage locker...supposedly she has a boxed Genesis, 32x, CD and 100s of games there. After the last guy...who knows maybe she'll actually call me back. But she'll most likely look up stuff on ebay.

So after a day of jack all except two 80's Mario toys, I was getting tired and we were heading home when dad spotted a sale and stopped...thank god he did.

Very unassuming sale (sort of like summer of last year when I found that sealed LoZ...) and I saw they had storage bins so I thought I'd get one for my games that I don't play (sports crap). I hovered near the sellers long enough to hear them talk about video games and spot on a chair Parasite Eve for PS1. So I ask about games, turns out a few minutes ago they JUST sold all of this guy's Nintendo collection (fuck me) but he had some PS1 and PS2 games. So I ask to see them and turns out he was REALLY into RPGs...god damn.

Nearly every game he had was an RPG. Of course he said he wasn't willing to part with them...but I talked him into parting with several of them because I told him I love RPGs, I'm a gamer and I'd take care of them. Which is true.

But he had nearly every GOOD PS1 RPG out there...I couldn't convince him to part with his FF games and a few others but I cleaned him out pretty much. A few minutes after going through his games, the guy who bought all the Nintendo stuff came back for the Parasite Eve game and saw I was going through the PS1 games and said "Oh so you are selling them?" Thankfully he didn't press it since the seller was sort of "I don't know, maybe".

But yeah...one of the better scores I think. All together it was $150.

Today -

Yard Sale #1:

Two 80's Mario toys - $1

Yard Sale #2:

(Everything for $150 or about $5 for each game)

PS1 Tales of Destiny - CIB
PS1 Tales of Destiny II - CIB
PS1 Wild Arms - Missing manual
PS1 Thousand Arms - CIB (With 3D card and stickers)

Silent Hill 4 BradyGames (With poster)
Tomb Raider Collector's Editon Prima
Tomb Raider Chronicles Prima
Dragon Warrior VII Prima
Star Ocean Second Story Prima
Star Ocean Till the end of Time BradyGames (With poster)
Legend of Legaia Prima (With TRU start cards)

None of the PS1 games have any cracks on the case...he really kept them in great shape...some of them look like they're new ffs! The PS2 games on the other hand...the last two ones (the shadows) have some stickers on the cover art and Destiny has a red marker crossing out the barcode...freaking annoying but meh. A few of them feel like they have some sort of...texture on the plastic protective part...no idea what that's about. But seriously other then those few issues, this score is perfect. A shame about the Nintendo stuff (god only knows if he had Earthbound...I didn't ask because I didn't want to be heart broken haha) and that I couldn't get him to part with all of the games but...hey this beats most of my scores so I'm not going to bitch about it.

Now onto the rest of the weekend lol...

Compared to last weekend, this weekend was a bit of a bummer...it was way to bloody hot out as well so we had to go home earlier...meh.

Friday -

Yard Sale #1:

DS Lite Pink - $5 (No idea if it works and it has a deep scratch on one of the screens...figured I could resell it for parts if nothing else...)

Yard Sale #2:

DS GTA Chinatown Wars - $5 (CIB)

Yard Sale #3:

PS2 Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories - $1 (CIB, GH)
Wii Samba De Amigo - $1 (Disc only)
Wii Raving Rabbids Party Collection - $1 (CIB)

Yard Sale #4:

(All of these for $5)

PSP Death JR 2 - (loose)
Xbox Godfather Limited Edition - (CIB)
Xbox Scarface - (CIB)
PS2 Worms Forts - (CIB)
PS2 Soul Reaver 2 - (CIB)
PS2 Colosseum - (CIB)

That last sale the lady had TONS of boxes and she swore she had SNES games in one of them but it was 80 degrees in the sun and I burn really easily so...I dug but I didn't find them

Saturday -

Church Sale:

PS2 La Pucelle Tactics - $10 (CIB)
PS2 Phantom Brave - $12 (CIB)
NES Crystalis - $15
NES Galaga - $13

(I should have known better...guy has BOXES upon BOXES of good games...fucking resellers at a god damn church sale...)

Yard Sale #1:

2 empty DS cases - $0.50

(Kids games but since they were empty I offered 50 cents...always need DS cases with the GBA slot in them)

Yard Sale #2:

($10 for all of these)

Xbox Midway Arcade Treasures 2 - (CIB)
Xbox Family Guy - (CIB)
Xbox Myst IV Revelation - (CIB)
Xbox Chase Hollywood Stunt Driver - (CIB)
Xbox Enclave - (Missing manual)

Got some so-so games...the reseller left a bad taste in my mouth after dealing with him...ugh...I seriously hate resellers. And at a god damn church...churches are where you get the deals man...he took $2 off of my games...big fucking whoop...I didn't have my phone on me at the time or I would have shown him the real price of his games -_-

Well at least I got that PS1 and PS2 lot...otherwise I think I would have called it quits for the summer...it's just getting hard out there finding anything that isn't complete garbage. I mean for every sale I find that has ok games...we go to countless more that have nothing. People know about games so I'm up against resellers or people who look stuff up on ebay and don't want to sell it at sales, which is fine...but resellers...just get under my god damn skin. They take the fun out of hunting because they spoil it for collectors and gamers.

They're all in pretty good shape...nothing great here but actually finding NES games for once that arn't priced super high is cool. Plus I got two black box games that I didn't have before.

A ton of people gave me their phone numbers since when I asked if they had video games they all said "Oh my son/brother/husband has some old games, but they arn't here right now." So far I've heard back from 1, who said his son sold the games a while back. Feh...
