When to my first yard sale in months...wasn't a lot out there, but I had money from selling stuff on ebay so I thought why the hell not go and try to find some games. Finally found someone who had old Nintendo stuff, who didn't live at the place the sale was, so he had to go home and "find them". My experiance with people who do this has been awful...they never call me back...this time though I insisted that I get his number and what do you know he found the games.
Yard Sale #1:
NES console with wires, 2x controllers, zapper gun
Cool blue, yellow and red Nintendo bag
Double Dribble
SMB/Duck Hunt
Super Off Road
Tecmo Bowl
Super Bowl
Airwolf
Super Spike V Ball/World Cup Soccer
All for $35. Nothing amazing, the bag is neat at least. Plus I needed the sports games anyways and they were in good shape. Meh.
Yard Sale #2:
Star Wars Shadows of The Empire N64 box - Free
Didn't have the game or manual so she just gave it to me...funny/irritating thing about this lady, last year I asked her about games, she said she had "tons" so I give her my number...never get a call back. Yesterday we hit up her house and I instantly remember it. I ask her about games and she says "Oh we used to have a whole set of those (the N64) but someone bought them earlier." I really, REALLY wanted to hit her. I would have bought them a year ago...most likely they were CIB...ffs. Ugh...I really wonder what these people do after I give them my number. Do they go on ebay and look up the price of their shit or...do they just forget about me or...what?
It's getting to the point where I feel nothing but depression and rage when it comes to game collecting. Depression because I never find anything good (except for very rare moments) and rage because everyone else seems to be getting finds of a life time.
And I know if I feel like that I should get out of this "hobby" but...I can't because it's not a hobby to me.
I'm just really fucking fed up.
If it's any consolation, this really has nothing to do with you. I'm sure I've given 10 or more people my phone numbers and not a single time have I gotten a call back (once I did but the guy had not found the games so it didn't matter anyway).
I'm sure they simply forget, or they go to look and find out that there were no games at all - kids sell them without parents knowing, people forget where they are, etc. What you could do is ask them if they would mind taking a minute to go look in the house right now - I've found things once or twice doing that. Often they will be willing if you press the issue a little.
