My son... gives me Helpful Nintendo Hints that are far too complex for the adult mind to comprehend. Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." And the hell of it is, I know he's right. - Dave Barry

Why do these companies keep doing this, announcing the system but holding back on the game list? Because they haven't got their shit together yet and they're rushing behind the scenes? It seems to have worked out OK for Sega in the end, but it blew back in Sony's face BIGTIME with the PS classic...

Who wants to place bets that Konami of all people are gonna get this right? Hah ha ha, spin that roulette!

It's to maximize publicity by getting people to write about it multiple times.

Konami owns the rights to Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, I think the TG16 Mini will do fine.

I think there’s a perfectly good reason for it. They want people to get on social media, write articles and make videos about what games they want to see on the system. Then they are able to get a really good idea of what games they need to include to be successful.

Unfortunately for Sony, they had a ton of great suggestions but they insisted on ignoring them. Sega is doing it right. I firmly believe there is no way that Sega would have come up with the current games list on their own. That’s a 100% compilation of top fan requests.

Hopefully Konami won’t pull a Sony with this one

Is this the first time Konami's done anything with Hudson Soft's IPs aside from virtual console releases?

I was thinking about getting a TerraOnion, but now I might just hold off and get this instead.

If this gets executed well, I wonder if people will start selling off their Turbografx/PC Engine collections. You know, cash out while they're still valued for high dollar.

Are there any other viable miniconsoles left to be made?

N64 would require 4 controllers. But maybe not.

Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, and Dreamcast might be too hard to emulate well on cheap hardware.

No one remembers the 3DO, or CD-i.

So maybe we can start seeing more PC Mini’s. Apple II, Amiga, ZX Spectrum, FM, PC-98, X68000, Atari PC, and DOS can use some love......We can maybe see a Game Boy / Color / Advance Mini and Game Gear Mini...but the only actual consoles left that seem viable I think are Intellivision and Saturn.

No chance this drops values of tg-16 games. They are too uncommon.

Any of the Atari consoles.  I know that there have been several plug and play versions of the 2600, but none of them have been great (and having several crappy versions didn't stop a Sega made Genesis mini from becoming a reality).

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I bet we could even see a brief uptick. TG-16 was always that “Oh I always seen it but never knew anyone who had it” Console.

Since none of the different minis, flash carts, emulators, repros, or any of the other ways to play these old games have had impact on game values for any system, can we finally just stop asking this question?

Can’t say what remains to be made that would make a good business case.. but I could tell you what I want to see - Sega CD, Sega Saturn and Sharp X68000.

If those were done, I don’t need anymore mini’s

I believe common NES and SNES have seen some price reduction since the classic mini’s have released. Rare games may have maintained or increased in value, although I’m not the best person to ask because I tend not to buy games that are $100+..

Id imagine that most common Turbo games are about as rare as uncommon NES/SNES games though so maybe they’ll stay expensive simply due to rarity as these guys have said

well thats not true. The snes and nes classic had an impact on the value of both of the actual consoles, and a majority of all the games on them. Popular commons prices all trended down after the mini. There was a thread we already talked about this. The data is there. They definitely had an impact on the casual fan market. Before the classic I was selling SNES and NES systems with mario and a controller for 100-120 a pop with ease. Since it came out systems values have gone down considerably.

I traded in a copy of Mario 3 to a local store over a month ago and it is still sitting there in plain sight
