Yesterday at the Goodwill, I saw that someone had ripped the serial number out of a new WoW expansion so they did not have to pay for the game.

At the goodwill around here the employees take the best stuff from the donations while they are still outside, place them in garbage bags and then "steal" them by putting the bags in their car. They later pawn it or sell it on ebay. The entire scheme is orchestrated by the manager!

Geez, ever think of getting it on camera and turning it into some TV troubleshooter? That would be just freaking hilarious seeing them carted off for essentially robbing the poor and needy both of honest employment and cheap goods. Good luck ever getting employed again when you have to put the 'felon' checkbox that you got charged for robbing a goodwill.

A buddy of mine who used to work there confronted the manager about the issues only to find himself replaced to another location days later. When you got hundreds of dollars of extra funds pouring in every week the manager and his associates do anything to protect themselves. Most people working there have served time and are accustomed to this.

I hope you stole his malt liquor or all of your efforts will have been for naught!

That's what the "loss prevention" department is for.  They're like Internal Affairs for retail.

I don't steal, but I do love raping the employees.

(Crap, I'm new. How dark can the humor get here?)

I'd be ashamed to be related to you, I can't imagine what your wives/parents/grandparents must think. This thread is very depressing. I assume people out there are shady in all aspects of their life, but I didn't imagine it would be from members on here.

Now the next time I buy something from a member, I'm going to have to refer back to this thread...

I'm sorry, but this is just a tad over dramatic.

I never even THOUGHT to swap stickers at a Goodwill anyway. Needless to say, I would never do it. I've busted so many people at work (Old Navy) for putting clearance stickers on full-price merchandise. Thankfully, we have tamper-evident stickers on our clearance. And I'm not an idiot and I can pretty much look at anything in the store and tell you how much it costs, being that I do the shipment and oversee everything coming in.

no, it's a totally sensible post and it helped me a lot. after realizing that this very bright man from the internet would be ashamed to be my family member i sold my cargo pants(do they still make cargo pants? it is 2011, right?) and gave up my life of crime. from now on i will only steal what i can fit in my fanny pack.
