Lucario back in stock...

The link work but when I put amiibo in the search option, there is no Lucario. Kind of weird.

It's funny. I put about 18 of my amiibo together to take photos to put them up for sale... but I felt bad doing it the entire time. Not like my old Power of the Force Star Wars figures from the mid 90's. Those I had so long and just wanted rid of. But these little things... I've put so much time, effort and money into collecting them, that seeing them go just doesn't sit right. So even though I'm getting frustrated with what is happening with them, I guess I can't call myself out just yet. I do know one thing, though. If I do continue to collect future releases, that I should hold off for a while if I can't preorder some or get them in stores. Prices are dropping on them, so it might not be as expensive to continue collecting. Damn it.

Anyone else notice the characters added back to TRU.ca? Not sure if they actually have any in stock, at least not online or in my area. But there are some real rares in there. Pit, Little Mac, Marth, Captain Falcon, Trainer and even Villager. I know Best Buy added practically everything back on, but didn't have any stock. If anybody managed to score any of these, let us know.

By the way, with the talk of reprints, is there a way to tell the difference between them?

There are lots of Marths, Villagers, Pits, Macs, Falcons, and a couple others floating around EB Canada right now in store. Lots of people posting. I think they're still kinda limited, but they're trickling in. Looks like the scalping might be kept to a minimum from now on. Hopefully people will either be able to pick these up on release or be patient enough to grab them after in store.

I just went and checked. I luckily scored the last Wii Fit Trainer from one of the EB games, everything else was gone. Apparently they had a few yesterday, but were gone by midday. Also checked TRU, they had pegs for Marth, Villager, Captain Falcon, Fox, Wii Fit Trainer, but they were cleared. The clerk said they had quite a few of each come in as well. I also got lucky with them having a few Lucario's left, so scored one of them too. Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely be constantly checking back the next while.

Of course you canadians get more of the old amiibo stock. If they can get you stock why the hell can they not get the US stock? Tired of the randomness of it. Telling us that some wont be back then randomly reprinting some months later. Im still just so tired of the games. Allow us to preorder the damn things and make enough for those. Then I wouldnt care.

So for anyone who has managed to get one of these new releases of old amiibo, is there any way we can possibly tell the difference between new and original? Anything printed on the packaging that would help distinguish them? I see people say "first run" or "first print" on certain characters in auctions, but if we don't actually know the difference, than anybody could do that with a brand new print. That way, these originals will be worth as much as new ones, whether that means the high price or a lower one.

Most of them have slight alterations to the painting on the figures (i.e. face, color, etc). Packaging is identical.

But how easy/hard is that going to be able to spot? Unless you had them both sitting right next to each other, it could be very difficult to know the difference. Unless it is some blatant and obvious paint design change, a subtle alteration to a colour or two may go unnoticed, especially when people take photos and the lighting doesn't show it perfectly. White balance, shadows, blur, etc. Those factors could all contribute to confusion. It'd be better if something on the packaging was changed, like a number on the bar code, or the stamp they put into the cardboard.

Alright, so I may have found a packaging difference, at least with Villager. Next to where it says "NVL C AAAJ USZ" (above the bar code), there is another number. The original says "100314A", while the reprint says "100314B". I checked my personal copy, and it has the "A" on it. Looking at some other random figures in my collection, they also use "A" on them. So perhaps the "B" is an indicator of print run.  If this is correct, than be very careful that you see this number in images from a seller.  Somebody has a "B" print up for $170 CAD on eBay right now.

Somebody said they "fixed the eyes" on Villager, but I don't really see the difference.

Well that's certainly something I didn't see happening for amiibo. Hopefully these will be easier to find.

Not sure how I feel about this. So they'd probably be in cheap little bags, to cut down costs. That also makes them less presentable as a sealed collectible. And the inability to really choose which you want? That means people will still need to turn to sellers online. Are these supposed to be exclusive, or will there also be regular boxed style available at retail stores? Of course, the only amiibo I still want are Zelda related, and they go and do something totally off the wall with them.

So there's eight different amiibo for Animal Crossing listed on Nintendo's website now. The four we already saw, plus another four. Not really my thing, but I'm sure fans of the series will be happy about it.

I received the two "without the chip" amiibo figures from a seller in China through eBay today. They certainly look and feel legit, comparing to my other open Link I bought locally. Same details, paint, rubbery parts, stamps on the bottom, colour of the clear peg holding him up. The only odd thing is that there is an extra inked stamp on the bottom of him, which says "©CAPCOM CO., LTD." between the two Nintendo imprints. This isn't on the Zelda I got from them, though. If I had a digital scale, I'd weigh them. There's not really a noticeable difference, maybe slightly, but it may also just be in my head. Still, for the $7.50 I paid for each (with free shipping), not a bad deal.
