I'm working through Pilot Wings 64 currently. Not a long game at all, so I should have it done by tomorrow or the end of the week at the latest.

Fresh blood to the N64 quest! We seem to have slowed the pace significantly in this thread over the past month or two. I'm plucking away at Indiana Jones, but it's a long game and I have so little time to play right now!

Make sure to get started on your next game as soon as you finish pilot wings, get a roll going!

I am working on Banjo, I am at the sand level. My slow down is due to spring. I have to clean up the property from all the winter storms, and get the garden prepped.

Yep, I need to get back on it too. I've got a new baby coming soon, which might mean less game-playing, but with my first it actually meant more playing.

I too am "working on" Banjo, but it's a slow slow burn for me. I just have so much going on lol.

I usually beat a game or two a year for the N64 Beat Thread. Not sure if I'll work on another right away but I will be working to beat at least two other games off my small list here by the end of the year:

Rayman 2

Space Station Silicon Valley

Star Wars Rogue Squadron

I didn't actually look to see if any of these were beat yet so sorry if it doesn't help at all.

I git stuck on Duke Nukem and had to move on for a bit. Banjo is a much better game than DK64. I don’t feel as pissed off and cheated by the time limit challenges and level design in Banjo.

Let me know where you're stuck on Duke Nukem, I beat it last year so I might be able to help.

Love that game, but it's HUGE and there are plenty of levels where it's not always clear how to progress.

Weird, I had entered it into my spreadsheet, but the OP didn't get updated. Yet somehow the subtitle with the completion percentage DID get updated. Ant the leaderboard. Shrug, it's all good now.

Finished up Pilotwings 64 tonight. It was good, but not sure how to compare it to the SNES one. SNES version is pretty damn hard to beat but it's way more satisfying. N64 Pilotwings is a lot more chill and feels like you could come back and mess around with it in the future. I enjoyed it overall and recommend it.

I used to do that all the time as a kid! I'd compare the way I played that to one of the modern sandbox/open world style games, making your own fun. My favourite thing to do was play on the mini USA stage with the gyrocopter and just spend hours flying around shooting things with the missiles, skimming over roads and under bridges and through canyons, all that kind of stuff!

Probably wouldn't play games much like that anymore... Now I'm grown up I have exponentially less time to play but way more games, so I am usually goal oriented when I play games. Not always to finish literally as quick as I can, but I certainly don't dawdle and replay the shit out of games like I did as a kid. Sad, in a way, but seriously my younger self would shit himself if he saw my gameroom today, so swings and roundabouts, eh?

Not much movement to report here, I've been playing Indiana Jones a bit, but I don't get much time to play at the mo. I will keep plucking away at it, and in the meantime try to squeeze a few other titles in.

I've just started on Robotron 64, it's quite the experience I have to say. I've had this one since I was a kid, but I've never beaten it, so we'll see how it goes. But, it's a very fast paced game, I've already made it to level 60 (out of 200) in one sitting, however I fear it's going to get A LOT harder as the levels spin by...

I had been trying to beat Banjo Kazooie. That Grunty fight is a real pain in the ass. How does a game going from being relaxing and fun to instantly rage inducing. It took me 3 hours to make it through the Furnace quiz game. Then the boss fight is just terrible. I have only made it to the 5th stage twice out of 30+ attempts. The last try really pushed me over the edge. I was on my last health on the 5th part and had just hit the last egg to unleash the jinjo statue when I got hit by a fireball. The jinjo's animation cycle hadn't finished before I got hit, so it didn't count as a win. I almost broke my controller in half.

Time to move on to a game I will actually enjoy, and let someone else deal with that garbage. The game is an 8 but that boss fight is a 1. Then to even get to the boss fight they force you to 92% the game.

Wow, I am genuinely amazed that one hasn't been beaten yet! I didn't even bother checking because I assumed someone had already done it... Perhaps if I get an afternoon free I'll give it a go.

Took me a little longer than an afternoon, more like 3 afternoons, but Banjo Kazooie is complete!

The final boss is no joke, that's for sure, very challenging. But, personally I think it is a pretty good test of all the skills you've been learning throughout the game. I have to say this, it is MUCH easier if you have all the item and health upgrades, I'm not sure I could beat it without those, especially the red honeycombs.

Progress update: I've made it to level 156 on Robotron 64. Unlike most people, I actually grew up playing this game it was one of my childhood games, although I never made it this far before! I have to say though this is a TOUGH game, bordering on the unfair imo. It never stops being fun, the frantic gameplay and heavy bass techno soundtrack become almost hypnotic after a while. But, once you reach the higher levels, certainly beyond level 100, the game becomes brutally difficult as you are overwhelmed by the opposition and the waves of enemies seem practically endless. In fact, the only way I have managed to make it this far is by grinding lives up, reloading my save file after I die so I can restart the stage and try again. If you lose all your lives it is Game Over and you have to go back to level 1, so grinding lives and reloading save files is pretty much the only way through unless you happen to have God-like skill at the game. I am gonna be taking a break from it for a while, so I can go back to finish off Indiana Jones and recover my sanity a little, lol!

Finished Mega Man 64 for the first time! Gotta say despite a bad first impression with the game, I ended up enjoying it a lot!

Finished Rayman 2: The Great Escape. Another 1st time completion for me. I always knew it was a good game but after finishing it I'm still impressed how polished it is. Easily one of the best 3D platformers on N64.

Nice work there Krakensoup!

I have also returned from an epic quest, Indiana Jones is finally done! Great game overall, and it does more than enough to shine through its various technical and design flaws. I had a lot of fun with this one, and it really has a great deal going on to keep you interested in seeing the adventure through.

Not sure what I'm gonna do next, I think I'll hit up a couple short games. I wanna try and reach at least 20 completed games by my birthday, which is the 7th of June.

Thanks! I'm trying to progress through old games I never beat recently. Hopefully I keep up with it, but I'm kinda in a "meh" mood towards new games lately so I probably will. Beating a game thats 20+ years old for some reason is more satisfying than ones that just came out.

Well, now that you're done with that lame old Sculptors Cut, how about passing that badboy along to your good pal OptOut at a competitive price?
