I can't get enough of classic Castlevania games and it bugs me that there really aren't any 16-bit hacks out there. At least none that have been playable on standard consoles. With hacks being made for lesser-known titles from that era...what gives?

Maybe they're a bit more difficult to get into, but that's not saying it's not doable. Heck, I would go for a 16-bit hack myself. CVIV, CVDX, or even the Genesis Bloodlines would be pretty cool to see a hack on.

There are three hacks of Castlevania Dracula X, one adds Richter in a outfit similar to his ayumi kojima artwork, another adds the unamed villian from Castlevania the Bloodletting, and another adds evil trever from SOTN. There are a couple CV IV hacks. One was made by me and it makes the HUD similar to CV3 and CV1. Another one makes the HUD similar to CV1 and also makes subweapon items look like CV1. That one was also made by me. There is a hack that decensors the stuff that was censored in the US version. There is also a level hack that changes the levels and requires the use of glitches to complete. Someone is working on another level hack but I dunno if he'll ever finish.

GBA also has several hacks and so does DS. All these can be found at romhacking.net, but that site is down right now. There is a hack of Dracula X that uses MSU-1 to use the ROB music but it was never released. You can see the video on youtube.
