I love my Gen Nex... you need to get the wireless arcade stick too... it is a bit expensive but it is made very very well. Its like its cut right out of an arcade machine, it rocks!

Toaster. I have a top-loader, but same as others, I can't stand the bars. I've been thinking about getting an AV famicom and adapter, just don't have the cash for it at the moment.

And in my experience, saving your game with a battery backup is a risky bet given how those systems operate their reset switch.

Personally, I'd rather have a reliable piece of hardware that's been doing it's job successfully for 20 years, than some cheap POS made by pirates.

Thats not true at all. The Retro Duo is high quality, and the machine looks great. RD plays nearly all games, including Castlevania 3, and SNES special chip games, such as Star Fox, and Mario RPG.

Previously I had the Yobo FC twin. The machine worked great, and it was compatible with alot of games. Eventually though, I sold it on ebay for $40.. which is good considering I paid $40 for it new. It just looked kind of cheap, and the compatability wasnt enough for me, but im sure its good enough for the average gamer. Thats why I got the Retro Duo.. it just looks like a nice piece, and its super compatable. I put it in my livingroom to play with company. I still have my toaster, but I moved it to my bedroom, and I play RPGs with the Acclaim wireless controllers before I go to bed. This way my batteries stay operational, and I dont abuse my NES as much.

I also purchased a Generation NEX once on ebay, but something was wrong with it, the colors were dark and blurry and sometimes the picture skipped.. I think the previous owner abused it, the machine itself was dirty, so im not going to blame Messiah. Infact I think when my God Slayer cart arrives, I might buy another one to play it on, because I cant seem to find any converter, and all the Gyromites I open are empty ggrrr!

Overall the NOACs are crap, but if you look at alot of the newer ones, they are doing good.. some of them are designed in USA. I did alot of research, and id say rght now the best one out is the Retro Duo.. it even has an S-Video port for SNES games.

You know what, he may have been referring to the FC Twin being a POS.

I actually haven't seen a Retro Duo yet, so I must have made a false correlation between the two.

The REAL test is whether it works with the PowerPak!

Well, the GenNex has the same problems as the Yobo stuff from what I understand.

Didnt know that..in fact, I should just shut up cuz I honestly dont know a thing about these systems...Ive only played toasters, toploaders, and Gen NEx's...My opinion of the Yobo's and such comes from a close friend who had one take a shit on him after two weeks...

My Yobo never broke, it just does wonky stuff with some games and is VERY unreliable at not shorting out your battery backed saves.

I see...What happened to my bud's was after like 2 weeks of moderate playing, thing just up and dumped itself, not turning on, when it did it would give the whole "flashing screen thing"..only saw the problem 1st hand once, but that was enough to make me not want to buy one...

I used a Yobo for years and never had any issues with save games. Sounds like they might be hit and miss as far as reliability goes!

Just get the Retro Duo.. It has the same price tag, but looks sharper, and it comes in a carry box with display window.. but most importantly.. it plays a heck of alot more games.

1 yobo - uses it for testing games that have issues after cleaning to see if they will work at all before cleaning again for use in toaster.

Back in 1988 my Grandfather bought two NES Toasters. One for me and another he kept at his house when all his grand kids would come over on holidays to play. My original toaster got beat to hell, the door popped off and I have no idea what happened to it. When I got into Playstation back in the late 90s my NES disappeared.

Grandpa died a few years ago and when all the kid swere cleaning out his house I found a dusty rather mint NES console that had little play time on it. It may not be my original, but it's as close I can get to it.

I'll never by one of those cheap knockoffs.

I just stick with the ol' toaster, although I never call it that. Those top loaders are too expensive and super ugly. I'd probably like it if I ever tried it though.
