EDIT: Changed the thread topic entirely because divingninja asked the same thing last month.

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but it came to mind recently:

Wouldn't it be nice to be notified when someone responds to you in a thread by quoting you in their reply?  I'm not sure how big of an issue this is for other people, but it seems like I often forget about older threads I've posted in or miss them while they're active and don't know when someone is replying to me.  Of course PM is always possible.  Bookmarking is also possible, but not really fine-tuned for something like this.  Not a priority, just a nice-to-have.  Or is there some way to do this that I don't know about?

Anyone else agree, or is it only me?

We need this, and notification options for threads you start. Like if someone posts in your WTS thread or other topic. You could turn off notifications if you wanted.

I would love notifications when quoted and when posting in a subscribed thread. Not email, since I don't want to have to check, but maybe a ticker at the top similar to the PM notification.

I suggested this awhile back, appearently there is an option that is not very user friendly, Paul can explain it when he see's this thread.

I am not sure if it works like other forums I frequent but there is something here along those lines.

I was half wrong, you posted in this thread below, it was MOG that knew about the bookmarking deal.

I think this is a good idea. I'll add it to the list of things to add.

I agree. It would be really helpful. Having to subscribe to whole topics just to find out what is going on is a bit of a pain. I would certainly use this. Though seeing as Dain has already replied I suppose this is a moot point.

One of the other forums I visit has a notification pop up on the bottom left corner of the page when someone quotes you. Just tossing that out there. I think it's in the latest vBulletin forum software.

How about notification when feedback is received? Most have let me know when they drop it, but sometimes they slip by and my number creeps up without me knowing.

^ I do like that idea. Nag them until they leave feedback. I can't stand it when people are being lazy and don't give it to you, after you've reminded them.

It'd be cool if on the left side of the screen under the nav box if it put all the alerts there. Make them for more things, from quoting and feedback to maybe even posts in a topic you're in. This would be really good to keeping up with what's going on around the site.
