Alrighty.  Today I'm tweaking Geminim to make sure it's bug-free and such.  I hope to get it the way I want it and so the rom can then be usable for cart release.

Geminim will be first as it was my first game, so it's only fair (I guess)  This idea would probably apply to Siamond and any other games I make too.

Cart-wise, I was thinking of doing the following:  Assign a numbered series for the first 30 or so carts and all carts onward will not be numbered.  Also, I could put text in-game for it being "first release" or something along those lines on the title screen.

I would take cart #1 and I'm sure bunnyboy would take #2, so 3-30 would be up for grabs.  It'd probably be a limit of 1 per user.  The price for the first "special" release would probably be $30 and all subsequent releases $20.  The numbering would just be a yellow box printed on the label.  I can easily tweak the label to omit that for the next gens.

I wanted to know if this struck the people here as a good idea or not.  The cart will be a sexy green cart!

That said, I'm going back to 6502 coding.

An assembler and the ability to code in 6502 assembly.  There are examples at nesdev, though a good programming background helps.  I had a class on DOS assembly prior to doing any of this.

Would they all be green, or just the special editions?

In any case I'd definitely be interested, probably not in one of the specials as I probably wouldn't be able to part with $30 soon enough for one. Definitely dig the green cart idea.

Regarding questions of all green: I think yes, any release of the game will be in the green carts. I personally wanted purple, but green is what's new and available, so that'll be my choice. I'm thinking of putting Siamond in a blue one, although I'm not sure yet.

I modified the title screen to display a simple "First release" at the bottom. It'll be easy to erase that for future releases.

Anyone think the text in-game should be something different? Keep it under 24 letters though.

Why not Limited Edition instead of First release? I mean I guess they kinda mean the same thing, but being numbered and all, I instantly think limited edition.

If you're only making 30 limited copies, then you could modify each ROM to say LIMITED EDITION #XX/XX or something like that. That way each internal ROM would be unique.
