You guys are beasts. I just started on this tonight, it's really good. It takes a while to set up a more favorable board but it pays off big. I just broke 700K but I think I can do much better.

Those scores are crazy, I was happy just to break a million! I guess I'll have to give this another shot and see if I can do any better.

Update: 11/2

I'm definately getting better, but I haven't put things together enough to go to 7 digits.  I have a little more time today to try to make that happen.

Fun game. I got this score mostly by filling out the SkyHigh letters, just because it felt appropriate. Still a lot to discover but I had a good run and broke 1 mil (most of it done on one life).

EDIT: better score below, old score 1,214,910

Ugh. My three day layoff didn't help me at all as I haven't been able to even come close to my top score. I'm not getting very many good bounces so far. One thing that is crippling my scores is the bottom screen. How in the MFing hell do you escape from it?! I die 9.5 out of 10 times when my ball falls to the bottom screen. How in the f'n hell do you consistently make that GD shot up the f'n POS right ramp?! Horrible, horrible design by the programmers! I guess this is why I've never been huge on pinball in general as it's a game that you can't completely control the outcome of regardless of your skill level.

My anxiety shoots up to all kinds of new heights when I'm on the bottom screen because I have no real working strategy for it, but with my last few attempts I've developed one that has a decent success rate

Get the ball onto the right flipper and hit it when the ball is about to fall off, it will shoot around the bonus tunnel to the left flipper and then it's all about speed. If the ball is going fast enough then hit the left flipper when the ball is about to fall off, if it hasn't gained enough speed then hold the left flipper up to let the ball roll over it onto the right flipper and repeat the cycle.

Thanks again for the welcome guys, there's some great scores here.

This.  The worst is when the ball is flying around the bumpers at the top and kicks out lined up in exactly the right way to fall all the way through the 3rd and 2nd to the bottom screen before I can catch it.

Yeah gutsman I feel the same way about the bottom screen, but you have a lot of chances to not let the ball fall that far down. Since I'm always focusing on getting to the sky I seem to be spending most of my time on that level or Level 3 (with the slots) and it's really easy to get back up to Level 3 if you fall to the level beneath it.

That's the way I've been getting the ball back up too, Notrevania. One thing I've noticed that might help you guys is that the ball seems to fling father up the chute the slower the ball rolls down the left flipper. Maybe it's just me imagining things

I tried notrevania's flipper method and what usually would happen is it would hit the bumper and line the ball up perfectly to fall down that hole into the gutter. Yay! I guess I just suck at this game although I could potentially have a hacked or corrupt rom as it will only play if I right click the rom, select "open with" and choose nestopia. To my knowledge,no other rom I own does this so I'm at a loss here. Either way,my score is pretty subpar regardless and as it stands,my prospects to improve are not too high. I'll keep trying though.

Yeah most of my balls are lost this way, but that's why I said you have to concentrate on ball speed. If the ball is going at a high enough speed then I always make it up there. Krunch said it works better for them when the ball is slower, so it's a method worth tinkering with to find your personal preference. Also that top right flipper can sometimes help save your ball from dropping through the gap.

I'll say! It's nice to have more people joining these. Tough friendly competition is what makes these rewarding and fun.

So, I was thinking.  At the end of every commercial for a casino they talk about calling 1-800-whatever if you have a gambling problem.  Instead they should have people with gambling addiction problems play the slot machine in Rollerball.  Instead of just dropping in a dollar, you have to work to get it to spin.  Then the best part is that you NEVER win!  What could possibly be addicting about that?

In days of playing I've had all cherries 3 times, two of which were on the same ball and all bells once.  I've had to have turned those slots 100's of times.

That being said, I've enjoyed playing this week.  I can't get my score over a million and I won't have time to play tomorrow.   I've never played pinball games on the NES, and this was a nice one to get me started.

So I've been trying to improve my score, but I've seemingly gotten worse than better. I guess I'll just have to concede that I'm not very good at this game.

Haha! I wish! I'm a pretty good gamer....heck we all are....but I'm just not that good at this game. Can't win 'em all. You planning on posting a killer score soon EoTN?

Man, I've been playing this game for the last few days, and I cannot seem to get it together. My highest score was ~700,000 on one of my very first games, and now I can even get half of that. Hopefully I can bust out at least one honorable score by tomorrow, some of you guys are killing it with those baller scores!

Did you download yours from the CoolROM site? I haven't had any trouble getting the ROM to open, but it's frozen up several times when I got the multi ball and they were both on the screen at the same time. The only time it didn't freeze up was when I intentionally let the second ball drop down to the next screen until I got to the bottom.
