First real go.  Man, I have this same problem in the Atari comp.  I belt out a decently high score the first go (this time didn't take a pic) when I don't give a shit.  Start to give a shit, then suck, then I have to relearn how to not give a shit again to get in the groove.  It's a curse.  Wish I had more time earlier this week but I'm happy with this score so far.  Hopefully I can break 200K tomorrow.

What are some of you guys using to get sick scores? Just curious, I was actually in a great groove and then one wrong pill drop finished me off. At first I was focusing on points, and then I found that you can advance further if you focus on good drops earlier, then focus on just clearing the levels later. Up to about level 9 or 10 I'll set up consistent drops to get more points, and after that I just start to take out whatever I can, building up and taking out rows as quickly as possible to avoid the speed increase while the virus level is high. What about you guys?

One thing that always annoyed me about this game, the dropping of pill colors no longer needed.  I wish it was programmed to adjust when no more of a certain virus was left.  A few times I've had some rows to eliminate to get rid of one virus and it keeps dumping stuff I have no use for.  I'm sure the randomness was easier to program, but come on.  Since you don't get points for removing pill capsules, it's irritating.

Welp, looks like I'm going to stay in 3rd (or lower) this time 'round.

I just had a score of 1,022,600, and when I went to grab my phone to snap a picture, the controller jostled when I dropped it and went back to the stage select screen. Needless to say, I'm wicked pissed at this. It took well over 3 hours for this one, and there's no proof now.

I'd say I'll try more tomorrow, but I'm not putting anymore time into this game now. I'm too frustrated and pissed to bother.

Good job on the scores Ricky and Webby!

Goddamn man, this so fucking sucks!!! I know i would be totally pissed if it happened to me, especially for something that take 3 hours to perform. I feel your pain my good man

I nearly smashed my NES and Dr. Mario. If I thought it would do any good to snap a pic while in game, I would have, but I don't think that would count (not sure if the high score pulls through regardless of low/med/hi or not, so, oh well. I just need to make sure I have my phone near me at all times when competing and to not drop the controller next time.

Wow, nice job Ricky and Webb!

Now I'm going to post my lack luster score, but I have improved somewhat since I started:

69,900

I think the game is programmed deliberately to withhold pill colors you need. One level, I waited two minutes for what I needed to drop before I got bored and just completed the level.

I agree with that as well. I pretty much have just given up on trying to set up big combos and just try to clear the levels. It gets boring waiting several minutes on a certain pill to drop and it's super frustrating when you wait and wait and just end up losing because the pill color you needed never comes.

SUCKS.  That's the one thing, after playing for awhile and losing, there's no incentive mentally to do it again, for at least a day.  But wait, isn't there a high score screen you could have capped?  Wouldn't have shown the setting and such, but with your other score it's clear you could make it that far.

I am very sorry to hear this, man. I wish you'd have taken a shot of the screen when you started the next game, so your high score would have been in the high score slot; I am sure that bimmy might have made an exception, had he known the extenuating circumstances.

Nah, I wouldn't asked for an exception just because it opens the doors. If it showed the high score with the difficulty setting, I can see exceptions being made, but since it doesn't, oh well.

That pretty much sums up my experience too, but I gave it a shot anyway: 18,000

Nah, it's just practice really.  I honestly never really sat down with it except to play against someone else, this was the first time I really sat down to get used to the mechanics, how to play it, and what works best to get higher scores.  Really the only detail that annoys me is the color dropping when you don't need certain colors anymore.  But, that's usually when you're way at the bottom with nothing to do except wait anyway.  I do wish, though, that the game would give points for any combo drops if you at least kill one virus.  I've had some really sick combinations.

Damn, sorry to hear this, Adam   This happened to me a couple times a couple years ago when I used to compete in the weekly contests.  It totally killed my desire to want to play those games again for a high score (can't remember which games they were now).

Also, the scores on the first page are up to date.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

Yay, finally cracked the top 10!    Tried for too much combo on Level 14 before bombing out.  That was almost a 3-hour game (yes, I'm slow), so that's it for me.

Kudos to everyone who has mastered this game.  You guys rock!

Lol, well I logged way too many hours into it this week as is and killed my brain, so I am not entering another score. Barring a seven-digit score, looks like master Ricky is taking the prize this week.
