I know there are MTG collectors here, so I had to share this. I found these locally, and while they weren't a steal, they were definitely a deal.

I don't have internet at home at the moment and can't access NA at work, so I'm going to do my best to attach pictures to this, so please bear with me.

Though it was not advertised this way, there are 3 Beta booster packs worth of cards, and an Unlimited starter deck's worth - none of these have ever been played or shuffled. There was some other stuff too, but just junk. If you know what you're looking at, you probably have a pretty big smile on your face. :-)

I paid less that one "that one" is worth for everything, so I'm happy. :-D

I NOW HAVE A MOXEN BONER!!!!! Jean creamingly goodness
If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay A:
And B: I see theres the mox odviously, Were there any duals among the set...
I've been dreaming of making a find that nets me a SINGLE decently priced Underground sea
I run a black Blue Circu Dimir Lobotomist EDH and the only thing land wise i could think that I dont have that would help me is Underground sea. I just got a deal on a decent condition Watery grave for the deck and I was holding off on that one because I felt $25 was high for it (Hey I got my Poluted Delta in a trade so I didn't feel bad about acquiring a $40 land that way)

$800. ABUgames pays out $900 for the beta Mox just to resell it on their site! Between that, the Berserk, 2 Sinkholes, Fork, Dark Ritual, the Birds, and that Cyclopean Tomb (which is crimped BTW), the lot is worth well over $2,000.

No dual lands... Beta duals are worth a damn fortune now. All of mine are Revised/Unlimited. I think I have about 7 shy of a full set of 40. Pretty sure I'm getting that Mox graded - anyone ever do that before?

Yeah, I am so saddened that I only started playing at Odyssey... Granted I have stuff back as far as Antiquities.... (I am a hoarder of TRON!!) I have 22 BB AQ Urza Lands (Not that they are worth much) Almost 2 full sets art wise (I've got an extra insect PP and i'm short one mine compared to the others) And I'm only missing the 8th foils and 9th foil/unfoil ones to have Every Urza's Mine Tower and Power Plant ever printed in english.

Where did you come across this sick find?
Also I am a horible person I looked at your pics and in the first one I was like "He did ok, two sinkholes, berzerk spell blast, some birds, a hippi, not too bad" I didn't even notice the MOX until the second pic.

Freaking Craigslist!! I started playing at Uzra's Saga, quit at Destiny, started again at Mirrodin, quit at Planar Chaos (and sold everything, which sucked but helped me to buy a house), then started again recently at Innistrad. I'm more into it than video games at this point but recent CIB finds have got that blood flowing again as well...

Your tron collection sounds sick!!

I started at Odyssey, Quit at Saviors of Kamigawa (Stupid as now Ravnica block is my FAVORITE BLOCK) Started again at Time Spiral, Quit at Planar Chaos, Started again when some co workers started up at Innistrad

Also My fiancee started at Innistrad.
She's got 3 regular decks and 1 EDH deck we're just waiting on an order of the last few cards for

She's got Gisella, Blade of Goldnight as the commander in a RW Angel theme which is cool
I helped her a lot with the design mind you.

And to think MTG was a game my 18 year old self said "I could spend $20 on this to get a cheap deck so I can play with my friends" at My peek including Under construction decks I was at 42 decks

Heehee, yes, their business model is literally built on addiction... I started up again only looking to play EDH, and now I have five Power 9 again.... Oh well - at least you can almost always turn a profit when you sell your vintage cards!

i was scanning that first picture and just thinking ok some solid cards he probably paid a couple hundred and got a decent deal then BAM mox ruby. I haven't played in quite a while but I can still spot one of the power 9 at 100 yards. I started playing during revised and quit around urza's saga (or maybe legacy). Tried starting about two years again but just didn't have the time or money to get back in.

You got a great deal I think. Personally i always wanted to own a real black lotus (some day).

Was planning to build an EDH for each Guild but price would get restrictive at that point, I may still do the Izzet Niv Mizzet one or the Daemon based Rakdos the defiler one I had designed but maybe not all 10.

Had a guy offer me an unlimited one at between 900 and 1k which I thought was quite a deal but I couldn't afford it.

That seems to be roughly the going price for a good condition one, I just think my wife would crucify me if I walked in the house with $1,000 piece of paper that wasn't a $1,000 dollar bill.  My goal is to keep my eye out locally and some day try to score a beta or unlimited version for under $400 (a guy can dream can't he?).

Thanks guys. Last fall a good friend was like "oh hey, I have some old magic cards..." That usually means 4th ed and fallen empires... A couple weeks and a few grand later, I ended up with a Black Lotus, Mox Jet & Sapphire, Time Walk, 3 Moats, 2 Mana Drains, Gauntlet of Might, Forcefield, and much more. It was a pretty sick reboot! I am thinking of grading the Lotus, a Library I picked up, and the Mox and Birds you see here, but am a little intimidated by the grading process...

You never know! My first Lotus was off of eBay and was only $60, cuz it was an inked Unlimited one from a new user that no one else trusted! Fyi all the other Power I mentioned above is Unlimited... This new Beta Mox I got is worth more than my NM Unlimited Lotus - how sick is that?!

No wife. My ex hated these things, but found it pretty interesting when I made 6 grand after quitting & put it towards my first rental property, lol.

I used to have an Alpha Mox Sapphire... Ugh!!

Well, I could sell all these cards & keep that Mox for about $200, but its worth about $1500+ in this condition. A friend offered $220 for the Birds. I love how much less space these take than games, and shipping them is a piece of cake. It's easier to flip lots & keep stuff, too, but you definitely need the capital to do anything. Shit got insane the last few years!!! (Like what we're all witnessing with games now...)

Oh and yes: fireproof safe!! Stupid little thousand dollar strips of cardboard, lol :-P

Very very nice score... I started playing in the beta years and was quite active in the WoTC tourneys.. (type 1 and 1.5 back then) Stoped shortly after mirage when my DM's brother who was a uber christian type dude found my card collection (yes my whole collection)at his brothers house and thought the cards were "Satanic". I had left them there over the weekend because we were going to host a tourney for a bunch of friends on the following monday. Well, this guy is going through his brothers things while hes out and throwing away things he thinks his pagan brother shouldnt have. Needless to say, my 3 notebooks of rare money cards, 7 tournament decks, 3 or 4 large boxes of everything else made it to a dumpster that was emptied before I got there. I went to jail for assault that monday afternoon. I lost at least 75 duals (found out they were getting cut and traded for a ton before 4th ed) A mint alpha ancestral, 6 moxes, a UL lotus, complete set of Arabian, and various others I dont want to remember. Makes me angry thinging about it even now, 13 or 14 years later. I have one Badlands and a bit of the newer shizz but I am way behind the crowd nowadays.

Dude, that is one of the worst "thrown away stories" I've ever heard. It pained me to read that. I'm so sorry that happened to you. :-(

Maybe these will help a little:

My buddy had his dad's comics. Mom tossed them... Among them was X-Men #1.

An old neighbor I had (he was nearly 80, 10 years ago) used to have a comics collection from when his dad was a barber. Went to basic training. Came back, and mom threw em all out... Among them was the Action Comics that introduced Superman!!!

The first dudes mom also tossed his transformers, and very recently gave all his dragon warriors and mega man CIBs to some little kid cousins. I begged him to ask for them back and said I'd five him hundreds, to no avail...

I started at Revised/The Dark. Not sure when I quit. Maybe Horizons or Ice Age.
I can't believe how much Dual Lands are worth now, and how little Vesuvian Doppleganger is worth.

ah back when MTG was fun to play. I have some of those lying around, though none of them are the rare ones.

Lol thanks man... I felt a bit worse though, reminded me of when my mom sold all my transformers at a garage sale when I moved out. Had a orig optimus, all the dino bots and the construction ones that made a huge transformer together. Also my voltron and thundercats stuff got sold.. Still have my castle greyskull in box though! Ive shown my mom  what these items are worth now and she about crapped.

This. I remember when the Vesuvian was such a great card to have.

I miss the simple days of MTG simply creatures blocking creatures and some counterspells. Now it has much more depth rules and mechanics. I still play from time to tim but haven't bouht anything since time spiral which got me back into the scene. Originally started in the revised era and have sold 2-3 collections between then and now. Such an addictive game, I told myself if I sell off again I will never get back into it. That's why I still have a collection I rarely use.

Yeah I got out a couple of blocks ago, duals when I started playing back in Invasion were $15 to $25 for white border, now you can't touch a white boarder dual for less than $50. Underground Seas are $125-$150 a pop! Type 1 has become a rich person's game. I've thought about getting back into it, but the thought of dumping that much cash back into it keeps me from doing it again...nice score though
