I think I'll be able to put up a decent score, but Tom's 5,073,030 record should be safe. You are all just lucky that Bimmy didn't go away from the list and pick Baseball.

Yeah, because you are 1 of like 35 people who actually play that game. Lol.

That's on one life. Am I bummed we aren't playing Bubble Bobble? A little....

Anyways, I am heading to the casino tomorrow but I have put a few hours into Life Force. Will probably have my first score up sometime tomorrow.

Make sure you go all in with a 7/2 off suite pre flop! Great odds!

I've never played Bases Loaded either as far as I can remember, but it's a second half contest game so I guess I'll get a shot at it then. I enjoy all of the black box sports games with the exception of Volleyball. Even it probably would have been a decent game if the controls weren't so bad that hitting the ball is borderline impossible. It also doesn't help that the computer is so good that if you actually manage to get the ball over the net, they just spike it right back in your face faster than you can react. I'm probably going to need a break from Life Force by the middle of the week, so I'll have to give RBI Baseball a try.

Part of the charm of RBI BB is the fact that it uses real players' stats, but it's not too serious. And the A.I. in the game makes Forrest Gump look like Einstein. It is fun taking advantage of the mistakes the computer makes as well as some glitches...like sometimes when an outfielder is throwing the ball to the infield the ball will go right past an infielder and through the stands where the computer can't get it. And you can also do some trickery on the base paths and make the first or third baseman commit an error by throwing behind them. And sometimes you can bunt for an inside the park home run. Good stuff. And definitely squeeze in Bad News Baseball too. Wonderful game fron Tecmo!

I logged in a couple hours of practice today on the laptop and this game is a lot more fun than Gradius. Tom's TG record is absolutely unbelievable. I think I did fairly well and my score wasn't even in the same galaxy (bazinga!) as his.

Actually, my record is 6,553,800, done under tournament settings.  If this score looks familiar, it should.  I was trying to get the Contra maxout score (missed it by 300) and stopped when I got there.

Other people have unofficially done even better.  I've heard reports of people breaking 10 million before!

It's worth noting that these scores were done under normal settings where you're allowed to use a few lives.  Life Force is a bit easier than Gradius in that you don't get bumped backwards when you die.  You can usually brute force your way though a few rough spots and keep going in this game.

In other words, expect much lower scores for Tier 1.   Make sure you practice the final speed part at the end of the game!

Lower scores, huh? So I guess we should expect a 4,999,999 score from you? Lol.

And if any of the rest of us manage to get to that final part of the last stage, definitely be prepared for that last part. It usually seemed to kill me at least once or twice.

I'm sure Tom has seen more loops than I have, but I think those barriers at the end follow the same pattern each time.

Yup, the pattern is always the same with the barriers.

Man, I ate already but the thought of eating a pizza right now sounds about right.

I remember that match!! There was more selling in that one match than a table full of $1 Little Samsons!

Kind of like my 30 point score, huh? (which is what that was in reference to)

Kevin, let me know if this is the way the photo should look according to the rules. If not, I'll post another soon the correct way. I think I have it right, though. What's a good score anyways? This was A LOT of trial and error.

Yikes, I am bad at this. One of my proudest accomplishments as a teenager was beating Gradius III on Hard. Now I'm thinking I just don't have it in me anymore. My old man reflexes are kicking in.

Oh well, I'll keep trying.

You can do it!!! Honestly when I fired it up tonight for the first time in a while,I could tell I was rusty. Died in some stupid spots. But as I've been playing this for the past couple of hours,it's coming back to me. I can feel the old skill level rapidly returning.

LOL!
