You know the bargain bins you always skipped because you knew nothing in them was rare and it was full of commons? Check them again.

Yea, I had to have it, especially seeing it was a 1st party Nintendo defect packaging error.

I too was like "WTF?" haha. Clearly if you look at the box in hand, there is no sticker residue, and the tape was never applied the correct way. Maybe, as the game came down the line and was supposed to get taped, it snagged and went sideways, and the machine taped it the way it is now. Either way, pretty awesome!

You can put me down for a CIB DK, and a CIB DK JR. I purchased mb7421's copies.

He kept the 3 screw cart for DK, but I have two, so just edit it so that its a CIB, and cart only I own for it.

Money shot of all 3 (the two above and the gyromite nonht box also) coming in a second

I'm inclined to believe that most of the time 5-screw carts were included with these nh boxes.  Both of my nh DK's are from the original owner, and both boxes contained 5-screw carts.  There's also a nh Gyromite box on Ebay at the moment, and the cart for it is also a 5-screw.

Definitely a nice find!

Dane, I added you to the list.  And welcome to NA, by the way.

Be careful, variants will drive you crazy!

Thanks! It was pretty cool when I realized that one of the two copies I had was a variant. There's also a small printing issue with it. Apparently one of the colors of the print is shifted up just a tiny bit. There's a small green line just above the acclaim logo. I'll have to post pics soon. Now I just have to make sure not to totally get bitten by the variant bug!  Also, is the Rad Racer five screw variant that rare?

Small green line above Acclaim or Tecmo logo?  You shouldn't have an Acclaim logo on your Star Force.  Please post a pic when you can.  5-screw Rad Racer is very common.

Well crap, I got my carts mixed up.  It's Star Voyager not Star Force.  Now I'm going to have to really keep my eye out for one.  Sorry for the mix up!

Finally got my hands on the last non hangtab box I needed, Volleyball.  Interestingly enough, it didn't come with the 3-screw cart, but a 5-screw cart with the little TM after Entertainment System.

The 3-screw Mario Bros. (arcade) is harder to find than the 5-screw. Not impossible or anything, as you can find one online with relatively little effort. There are quite a few on eBay right now, and the usual BIN is about $15 or so. I personally think that's a bit high, but to each his own.

And yeah, if you see a 5-screw Mega Man, buy it!!!
